Chapter 63: Happily ever after.

“Hey, Lulu, Yuria.”

“What is it, Senpai? I’m almost done tying it up, so please don’t move.”

Still standing behind me as I sat facing the mirror, Lulu—dressed in a pure white gown—was tying up my hair when I spoke to her.

Beside her, Yuria, also in a pure white gown, was working on finishing the setup, tying a large white flower ornament into my styled hair.

“I’ve been thinking this for a while now.”

“What is it? If it’s the outfit, it suits you very well. You look beautiful.”

I returned a vague smile to Yuria, who complimented me so sincerely, and looked into the mirror again—then let out a sigh.

“Isn’t this… just way too niche…?”

When I said that, the elf girl in a pure white bridal outfit with a large pregnant belly reflected in the mirror made a weary expression as if to agree. Which is to say—that’s me.

“Well, yeah, it definitely gives off a criminal vibe.”

“We had to at least hold the ceremony before the baby is born…”

Lulu gave an honest nod of agreement, and Yuria gave a troubled smile, considering the circumstances.

After all, having a king marry after the child is born wouldn’t sit well politically, so we scrambled to hold the wedding beforehand as early as possible.

A surprise maternity wedding was the result. It’s like being put on public display—yay. It feels like both maternity blues and marriage blues joined hands and decided to drop by my place.

There aren’t any government offices here, so apparently the ceremony itself is treated as equivalent to legal marriage. As of today, I officially have to go by the name “Kisaragi Sora.”

It’s a bit sad, maybe a little painful, but I hear my family name from the Amatsunari side will remain on the future registry and with the child’s name, so at least that’s some comfort.

Incidentally, it’s been decided that Lulu and Yuria will become the second and third wives at the same time, so we’re holding a combined ceremony. It’s not a double, but a triple wedding… though apparently I’m still the main focus.

What kind of rumors this will spark, I don’t know—but I just hope it won’t paint me worse than King Forlitz.

Supposedly, the citizens understand the situation and are offering nothing but their blessings, so it should be fine. Probably.

“Soraa~ It’s almost time—”

Just as I let out another sigh and the hair setting was finishing up, Fere walked in, dressed in a sea-colored gown. She was looking more dolled up than usual.

By the way, Fere seems content just helping take care of my baby. I still don’t quite get her sense of things.

“I understand.”

With assistance, I slowly stood up from the chair. Holding up the long hem of the dress, I gently left the waiting room behind. Now—time for my once-in-a-lifetime big day I never asked for.

The wedding is an original ceremony blending local traditions with Japanese elements. The flow is simple: we recite our vows before a witness, and then it’s on to the reception—drinking, singing, and a general festival mood. Perfect for a country that loves a good party.

At the entrance of the venue, Chris—wearing her ceremonial dress—and Mr. Kasai—dressed in the newly adopted knight uniform—were waiting. They would escort me along the long red carpet laid out on the ground, all the way to my husband.

Yuria and Lulu followed silently behind me. Fere was waiting in the family seat.

The guests were a distinguished lineup. Arakis-san with a bunny-eared lady on his arm. The emotionless black cutting board girl who still never shows what she’s thinking. The ringlet curls girl who, apparently having been demoted recently, came up with excuses like joint exercises or taking vacation just to visit. Some adventurers I’d talked with back in the town I first lived in. Clarice and Mr. Collins, now a married couple.

And of course, the beloved citizens, watching us with radiant smiles. The children were dressed up too, sparkling eyes trained on me. I wasn’t supposed to feel happy—but the feeling welling up from deep within my chest wouldn’t stop.

Waiting for me at the end of the virgin road was my husband, clad in a white tuxedo, and Riara, the witness, dressed in a custom-made ceremonial robe. Chris and Mr. Kasai stepped aside and sat in the front row after passing me on to him. I glanced at them briefly, then took a step toward my husband.

“...Sora, you look... truly beautiful.”

“...Thank you.”

If I could’ve blushed adorably here, I might’ve made a proper bride. But unfortunately, I’m not that kind of girl—sorry to disappoint.

“Lulu, Yuria, you both look lovely too.”

“Yes...”

“Ehehe.”

That’s probably the “correct” response. I didn’t even need to look back to know how the two of them reacted. But hey, you’re the one who chose me, Master—so you’re just going to have to live with it.

“Now then—your hand.”

I took the hand he held out to me and stepped gently to stand by his right side. Yuria, Lulu, and Fere followed right behind.

“I, Riara, Chancellor of the Moonforest Kingdom, hereby proclaim! From this moment forward, the marriage ceremony shall be conducted between His Majesty Shuya Kisaragi, King of the Moonforest Kingdom, and Sora Amanari, Chief Lady-in-Waiting; Yuria, Head of the Maids; and Lulu, Captain of the Royal Guard. Should anyone object to this union, speak now. If none, then let silence be your answer.”

No one raised a single objection to Riara’s declaration. In the strangely quiet air, Riara turned her calm gaze to Master.

“King Shuya Kisaragi. Do you swear, from this day forward, to love, cherish, and support these women, who will now become your wives, no matter the circumstances?”

“In the name of the founding king of the Moonforest Kingdom—I swear to love and cherish my wives for the rest of my life.”

His voice was quiet but unwavering, resonating clearly.

“Sora Amanari, Chief Lady-in-Waiting. Do you swear, from this day forward, to love, cherish, and support His Majesty Shuya Kisaragi, who will now become your husband, no matter the circumstances?”

A rebellious little impulse made me wonder what would happen if I just said “No” here. But I held it down and gave a firm nod.

“I swear to love, cherish, and support my husband for the rest of my life.”

The “love” part sent a shiver down my spine. Saying something you don’t mean is never easy, huh.

“Yuria, Head Maid, and Lulu, Captain of the Guard. Do you also swear to love and cherish His Majesty Shuya Kisaragi, and to support him together with Her Majesty Sora, the primary wife?”

“We swear to serve the both of them for the rest of our lives.”

“Yes! I swear to support both of them!”

Hearing their cheerful responses, Riara smiled, clearly satisfied.

“Then, by tradition—seal your vows with a kiss.”

Ah, so they’re sticking to that part too, huh. I looked up at Master as he gently lifted the veil from my face.

“Sorry... looks like I really can’t let you go after all.”

As his face drew close, Master whispered so only I could hear. It’s way too late for that now—not that I ever thought I’d be able to run in the first place.

“Well, we did make a promise.”

“A promise?”

I’m not so ungrateful that I’d break my word. I’m here now because of him—there’s no denying that. Even if Master forgot, I’ll keep that promise.

“At the very least, I’ll stay by your side… for as long as you’re alive.”

“...Yeah. That’s right... Sora, I’m counting on you from now on too.”

Finally seeming to understand, Master softened his expression and leaned in. I closed my eyes—and felt our lips meet. It’s going to be a long life, whether I like it or not. So at least… let me make a few good memories with you, “Master.”
