Chapter 17: The Saint Negotiates with the Demon King
The Saint Negotiates with the Demon King
Satya, a female demon executive, was waiting for an opportunity to take revenge on me and Alto.
I knew this beforehand because I had played the game.
From Satya's point of view, this makes sense.
The two of us thwarted her plan, which was on the verge of completion.
If she found us on the battlefield, I knew she would prioritize us.
In the game, if Tiana is defeated by Satya's attack during the fort defense, special rules apply.
If the Subjugation Party requirement is not met, the game will be over without any questions asked.
Satya's temperament is sadistic.
She will target me, the rear guard, who ostentatiously show off her pitiful state to Alto.
However, I am far stronger than in the game, and I am not the kind of person who would die by having my heart taken by a demon (well, this body no longer need a heart to function)
The blood was splattered everywhere for the purpose of the performance, but as you can see, my body was rock hard.
However, I never thought I would be able to come to the Demon King's castle so smoothly.
By the way, in the game, there is no depiction of Tiana entering the Demon King's castle alone.
It's true that I sometimes use a game's story as a hint for my decision-making.
However, I don't really have any intention of acting in accordance with the story.
As long as I achieve my goal, that's fine.
I just want to be able to imprint myself in
memories.I just want them to remember me from time to time in their happy life.
"Satya, the woman you brought is undoubtedly the saint of the church, well done. And woman, you are willing to enter this Demon King's castle alone, that's good."
"Demon King... it is a great honor to recieve your words... but! You! How are you still alive? That blow certainly pierced your heart! What are you!"
Satya, who had been stunned, regained her composure and approached Tiana.
"Even I was surprised by your piercing backstab. That would undoubtedly be a fatal blow that would instantly kill a human. But I'm a professional healer, you know? Don't underestimate the Saint of the Church. Well, but... thanks to you, I was able to meet the Demon King, so it's a thank you ♡"
"Ugh, gurgling..."
Satya realized that she had been used by Tiana as a courier, and a bitter expression appeared on her face.
"So, Saint, what business do you have with me here? You certainly didn't come here to chat."
The Demon King returned the conversation to Tiana and questioned her.
"Yes, I have a request for you, Demon King. I would like to ask all the demons to make peace with us humans after the ceasefire."
"What! You bastard! You killed our comrades and now you have the nerve to say that!"
Satya couldn't help but interrupt the conversation.
"Silence, Satya. And now, Saint of the Human Race... is that the consensus of all humans? Or is it your own will alone?"
"It is my will."
"In that case I refuse. In the first place, the reason we have been fighting among ourselves up until now is because of the greed of the humans. To think that peace can be achieved through the appeal of a single saint...it's an absurd idea."
"I will secure the promise of the kingdom and the church."
"Do you think I'll believe you and send you back safe and sound?"
"So what can I do to make you trust me, Demon King?"
"Hmm..."
The Demon King paused, as if deliberately pondering something, before speaking to Tiana.
"My beloved wife, Echidna. She is bedridden due to an incurable disease. As a human saint, surely you can do something about it? I'm sure you can't say that."
The Demon King exerted an oppressive pressure on Tiana that would make anyone shrink back.
It was a pressure so great that it sent shivers down even the most battle-hardened warrior's spine.
"Well... I can't really say anything until I examine her. So it's probably possible."
Tiana remained calm even under pressure and responded in a very natural manner.
"Then we will head to my wife's bedroom. Follow me. If you try anything strange, even for a moment... I will tear you to pieces with my own hands and send it to the humans."
"Well, that's horrible..."
Satya thought this saint was finished.
Even after gathering together the most skilled demonic sorcerers, the queen's illness did not improve at all.
After all, she was a human, so there must have been some trickery behind this woman not dying from her fatal wound.
She is unable to cure his wife's illness and is soon killed by the Demon King.
The best she could hope for would be for the Saint's dismembered body to be sent to the humans, or so she thought.
A few hours passed.
What Satya saw afterwards had a huge impact on her.
The Demon King's wife, Echidna, was cured of an incurable disease.
Not only that, Echidna has regained her former beauty.
The lady was deeply ashamed of her disfigured appearance due to the illness.
The Demon King could only watch with his fingers in his mouth, and lamented with her every time he visited her.
Tiana easily cured the lady of her illness and even restored her beauty.
The Demon King and his wife were deeply grateful to Tiana, despite the fact that they were enemies.
"I received help from you, a foreigner and a human. It will be the only shameful thing I will ever have in my life. But you saved my beloved wife. For that, I am grateful."
"Thank you, Human Saint... I had given up. My body was wasting away and becoming disfigured due to illness... I could do nothing but lie in bed and lament day after day. But now, how am I feeling! I'm so happy, I want to run outside right now! Ah, how can I ever repay you for this kindness..."
Tiana spoke calmly, responding to what they were saying.
"This is no doubt also due to the fate that brought me and the two of you together. Please don't worry about it."
Tiana deliberately did not praise the gods that humans worship.
This is a form that takes into consideration the beliefs of the demons.
"If you have that kind of strength and courage, you may indeed be able to unite the humans. Very well, I promise to sit down at the table with the humans and make a truce."
"Demon King! If that happens, the demons' resistance faction will not remain silent! At worst, there is a risk of civil war..."
Satya, who was also present, could not contain herself and spoke a few words of wisdom to the Demon King.
"Hmm... I will silence any internal rebellion. And Satya, you will act as an emissary of ceasefire, together with Saint Tiana."
"Huh? Whaaaaat!?!?!?!"
Satya was suddenly ordered by her boss to transfer.
"Of course, what kind of peace would there be without the demons' herald? I've entrusted this important task to you, the recipient of the "First Merit Award" this time."
"Roger that! Demon King! As you command!!!"
It was decided that Satya, a female demon executive, would act together with Tiana.
