Chapter 19: Once Again, the Ignorant Saint
Once Again, the Ignorant Saint
The morning sun begins to peek through the trees.
Tiana woke up in her quarters at the fort.
A slightly chilly breeze flows in through the small window, accompanied by the chirping of birds.
"Mmm... mmm... ugh... my head hurts... up... ugh... ugh... damn it feels so gross..."
When she woke up, it was obvious to anyone that she was in a terrible state.
Of course, she didn't cleanse her body as she should before going to bed.
The smell of sweat wafts from under her armpits, irritating her nose.
Sticky drool soaked the pillow and the bedding was a mess.
The priest's cassock, which had been pure white, was stained in places with wine stains and could hardly be considered clean.
Her long, golden hair, which is usually beautiful and lustrous, was also out of control.
It's a very wild hairstyle.
Her underwear also smells strange, probably because she left it overnight after yesterday's mess.
"...Whoa, what is this? There's no one else here... and it stinks."
There were a lot of empty liquor bottles scattered around the area.
She somehow guessed it.
"Ahh... I did it again. Okay, okay, the purification magic "Clean"... Come to think of it, I peed on my way home. Well, I didn't tell anyone... I used purification magic... I don't think anyone found out..."
After casting the purification spell, she quickly returned to her usual pure appearance.
"Ah... I remember now. It was Asha who first brought it up. She was the one who suddenly told me to drink. And Alto, as always, keeps making me drink more and more..."
Taking advantage of the fact that there was no one around, she complained to herself.
"Ugh, my bladder's in trouble... I think I'm going to pee... I guess I'll go pee in the morning... Where's the toilet... The toilet, the toilet..."
Although she has become clean, in reality, Tiana is still half asleep.
With bleary eyes, she left the room to look for the toilet that was sure to be in the fort.
At the same time, a young soldier was on night watch.
Before the soldiers took their turns sleeping, they stopped off at the fort's bunker.
There he witnessed a shocking sight.
The image shows a saint relieving herself in a men's urinal, looking very comfortable and confident.
"Ohhh... Oh, ohhh... Everything that was building up is coming out so fast... Phew... Ah, I feel so refreshed, so refreshed."
She deftly flipped up her priestly robes, creating a beautiful golden arc.
A young soldier witnessed this...
(This must be a horrible vision from the devil to disturb my faith!)
That's what he thought.
He never told anyone about that scene in his life.
Tiana made sure she was perfectly dressed before meeting up with Alto and the others.
Her consciousness, which had been hazy, was now fully awakened.
She is so prepared that it's as if a halo is shining around her.
"Sorry to have kept you waiting, everyone. By the way, Satya... were you able to behave well last night? Were you causing any trouble for Alto-san and the others?"
By the time Tiana arrived at the fort's conference room, Satya and the entire party were there.
"Saint-sama, are you out of your mind? You, Saint-sama, seemed to be behaving much more freely than me yesterday."
Satya sneered back at Tiana, swearing.
"I still wonder why drinking alcohol earned me everyone's trust... but it saved Satya's life, so isn't it a good thing...?"
(Satya-san, the way you look at me seems more contemptuous than yesterday.)
Tiana was skeptical.
"Hmm! Now that everyone is here, let's get on with our discussion."
As if to cover up the exchange between the two, Alto raised his voice, causing a slight tension to spread throughout the surrounding area.
"You're already here, aren't you? A spy from the kingdom?"
Tiana called out to the spy, who shouldn't have been there.
"As expected of the Saint, did you know I was here?"
A spy from the kingdom who requested the defense of the fortress.
Before they knew it, the man was standing at the entrance to the conference room.
"When I heard that the Saint had been killed in battle, even I was shocked... but I'm glad that she returned safely. What's more, she even negotiated peace with the demons."
There seemed to be no need to explain the details of the situation to the spy.
"From the looks of it, it looks like you already know the gist of the story."
Alto confirmed with the man.
"Yes... I had already heard that she was accompanied by a demon emissary. I never imagined that it would the famous the 'Demon Who Covered in Blood'."
The man answered Alto's question while staring at Satya with a sharp gaze.
He seems unable to hide his surprise that Satya has accompanied Tiana as an emissary.
"What? You're famous?! I thought you were just some sadistic demon with big boobs..."
Asha asked Satya with a surprised look in her eyes.
Asha knew very little about Satya, having only seen her once on the battlefield.
The only relationship they had was last night when the two of them were observing Tiana's disgraceful drunken behavior.
"Hmm! Of course! Possessing the greatest strength and beauty among the demons... I am the Demon King's number one vassal! I am famous! Just as you would expect from a spy for the kingdom, impressive even though you are the enemy! You may be inferior to the demons, but you are still excellent!"
Where is the evil smile she had when she brutally ambushed Tiana from behind on the battlefield?
Satya put her hands on her hips, puffed out her chest proudly, and snorted loudly.
"Well, well... even the king cannot ignore a big name from the demon race as an emissary. I will report to the kingdom first. Everyone else, please take your time and head to the royal capital."
"Yes, I'll do that. Everyone, let's take a rest in town and then head to the royal capital."
Alto and the others haven't had much rest since yesterday.
After the defense, the three of them stayed up all night.
Last night, too, the three of them had trouble sleeping to keeping watch on Satya.
"I will follow your instructions. And, spies from the kingdom, we demons have no intention of attacking you during the negotiations. Please make sure to hold back the human army so they don't attack us either."
"This is a rare opportunity for peace. I fully understand, and I will be sure to convey this to the King. Well then, I will now excuse myself..."
The spy man left the room.
"Satya-san, since earlier, you've been looking at me and speaking to me in a cold manner."
"Hmph, it must be your imagination. To think that someone like this is a saint, humans have really fallen."
"Did you say something?"
"No, nothing. Hey hero, you're going to town, aren't you?"
"Oh, yeah. Well, let's go back to town when we're ready."
Alto and the others returned to the city, urged by Satya.
-Hero on the move-
"Stop it, Saint. Stay away, you idiot."
"Ehh.. why~... I'm a priest, you know? I'm a pure and righteous being, you know?"
The saint tried to entwine her arm with Satya in a familiar manner.
"Oh come on, don't touch me! Stop it!"
However, the Saint's hold was elegantly dodged.
The contemptuous look Satya gave the saint remained unchanged throughout the entire journey.
Tiana wondered about this on her way back to town.
However, since she had no idea what it was, she stopped worrying about it while she was traveling.
