There, standing on two almost cat-like legs above my bedroom window, was a nasty creature that resembled the pseudo-corpse from this afternoon, only completely healthy and uninjured.

The creature stared at us with its bulging gekko eyes, shaking its head from side to side as its half-open mouth revealed its uneven, deadly rows of teeth.

“What….? That’s it…!”

I exclaimed without being able to help it, completely stupefied by the small, alien creature before my eyes that seemed to be taken from a horror movie, watching us like a predator evaluating its prey while sniffing something, waving its tail with a potentially poisonous stinger.

“…. Maru, stay still. I took care of that thing.”

Thadeus said, his eyes completely fixed on the creature, his voice completely serious as he slowly raised his arm in its direction. Then…

With a nasty screech the creature—which was absurdly easy to ignore the inn's enchantments that were unknown to me at the time—leapt into the room with a clear objective that neither of us doubted as it opened its hungry jaws.
