Chapter 89: If I Say I Did It, Would You Believe Me?
Chapter 89: If I Say I Did It, Would You Believe Me?
It was a familiar feeling.
A soft, fragrant, and fluffy little fox leaped into his arms, and with just one hand, Chen Yin could hold her completely.
It was like hugging a fluffy pet that had been waiting for him to come home.
As he rubbed Luo Luo’s agile and adorable fox ears, Chen Yin felt a wave of warmth wash over him, and a gentle smile unconsciously appeared on his face.
“Luo Luo, have you been behaving these past two days?”
“Luo Luo has always been obedient to Young Master’s words.”
Once she latched onto Chen Yin, Luo Luo clung to him like a child hugging her favorite toy, rubbing her round and bouncy cheeks against him with happiness. “Young Master told Luo Luo to wait patiently, so I didn’t run around at all. I stayed in my room and took care of Ya Ya and the others.”
“I also listened to Big Sister Qing Ying properly.”
Chen Yin was immediately speechless. “You don’t have to listen to her.”
Before he could finish speaking, a lazy yet cold voice came from behind the door.
“Oh? And what do you mean by that?”
A tall and stunningly cold beauty stepped out. Qing Ying’s icy gaze swept over Chen Yin before she let out a light scoff of disdain. “Does listening to me make her lose status or something?”
“She’s my maid, so why should she listen to you?”
Chen Yin retorted without hesitation, rubbing Luo Luo’s small head as he walked toward the sickbed.
Inside the room, several frail little foxes sat up excitedly as soon as they saw him.
“Brother Chen!” Their sweet voices chimed in unison.
Chen Yin patted each of their heads gently and asked in a soft voice, “How is your recovery?”
“Thanks to Brother Chen’s help.” Ya Ya’s little face was still pale, but there was a faint rosy hue returning to her cheeks, and she no longer looked so gaunt. “Sister Nan said we can already get out of bed and walk around!”
“Their meridians are still weak,” Nan Xiaoxiang’s lips parted slightly as she spoke. “In another two days, once their meridians have recovered more, they can use immortal medicine for further nourishment.”
“By then, they should recover quickly.”
“That’s good.” Chen Yin finally sighed in relief and bowed to Nan Xiaoxiang. “Thank you, Miss Nan.”
Nan Xiaoxiang simply glanced at him before withdrawing her gaze.
“As a healer, this is my duty.”
“I just hope that next time the esteemed immortal has a favor to ask, he won’t act so frivolously.”
Faced with her mild mockery, Chen Yin could only scratch his head awkwardly.
—After all, since he still needed her help, it wouldn’t be wise to argue back.
“I’ll leave you immortals to your reunion,” Nan Xiaoxiang said gently. “I still have patients to tend to.”
With that, she curtsied gracefully and exited the room.
Qing Ying also shot a cold glance at Chen Yin before vanishing silently behind the door.

At the table, the little foxes were all happily munching on sweets.
“Luo Luo, what are your plans from here?”
Luo Luo was still wide-eyed, completely absorbed in the deliciousness of bubblegum, but Chen Yin’s words made her freeze.
“I…”
She turned her head, lowering it slightly as she spoke softly. “I don’t know.”
“I originally snuck out just to rescue Ya Ya and the others.”
“Now that I’ve finally seen them safe and sound, I don’t seem to have anything else to do…”
“In that case,” Chen Yin said, “why not take Ya Ya and the others home with you?”
“You’ve been out for so long. Your mother must be worried sick.”
Luo Luo peeked up at him, then turned away with a pout.
“But… but if Luo Luo really goes back, Mother probably won’t let me leave the city again.”
“Then why not spend more time with her at home?”
“But! Luo Luo doesn’t want to stay at home all day.”
She clutched the hem of Chen Yin’s sleeve, her eyes glistening as if she had just cried, looking pitifully adorable.
“Luo Luo doesn’t want to leave Young Master.” Her voice was soft and full of grievance, like a little child.
Chen Yin fell silent for a moment before placing his hand gently on her head.
“…You shouldn’t make your family worry.”
He spoke in a low voice. “Having a family who worries about you is already a blessing.”
“It’s something to be envied.”
Luo Luo lifted her head.
She looked into Chen Yin’s eyes—like charred wood that had been burned black by fire.
She swayed her tail and thought for a moment before speaking in a soft, sweet voice. “Then… then okay.”
“I’ll take Ya Ya and the others back home first and let Mother know I’m safe. Then I’ll try to persuade her to let me come back and find Young Master.”
“You can talk to her, but don’t argue with her about it, okay?” He leaned down and gently tapped her little nose, smiling.
“If it doesn’t work, I can just visit you at home.”
“Mm…”
Luo Luo covered her nose, squinting one eye, her cheeks turning slightly red. But her eyes were bright and shining.
“Then… if Luo Luo behaves, will Young Master give me a reward?”
“Isn’t this bubblegum a reward?”
“That’s for this time! Next time should be separate.”
Chen Yin thought for a moment, then reached into his robe.
At the same time, his consciousness entered the system store inside his scroll.
After searching for a while, he finally pulled out a package Luo Luo had never seen before.
“This is…” Luo Luo’s fox ears twitched curiously as she looked at the bright, soft, and jiggly treat in his hand.
“This is called jelly. It’s also really delicious.”
Chen Yin smiled, placing the jelly into Luo Luo’s hands.
“As long as Luo Luo behaves, next time I visit, I’ll bring even more delicious treats.”
Luo Luo held the pack of jelly, her eyes sparkling like stars, and eagerly nodded.
“Mm!”
“Ah! Brother Chen is playing favorites! We want some too!”
“I want some! I want some!”
In an instant, the little foxes all pounced on Chen Yin, some hugging his waist, some pulling on his clothes, and one even jumping onto his back, wrapping her arms around his neck as her soft, delicate body pressed against him.
Soft, sweet voices chimed in one after another, making Chen Yin’s heart melt.
At that moment, he felt as if he had stepped into a cat café, a puppy shelter, or even a kindergarten—completely surrounded by adorable things. His eyes involuntarily squinted with delight.
“Haha, don’t rush, don’t rush, there’s plenty for everyone.”
As Chen Yin was swarmed by the little foxes, Luo Luo casually tore open a package and popped a piece of jelly into her mouth.
The smooth, sweet texture melted instantly, making the little fox feel as though she was dissolving right along with it.
“So good…” she murmured in admiration.
At that moment, the system’s voice rang out, sounding a little doubtful.
[Huh? That’s strange…]
[This thing… why does it seem familiar?]
[Is it from the system shop?]
But a moment later, the system shook its metaphorical head in denial.
[Forget it. There’s so much stuff in the system shop—who could possibly remember if something this small was in there?]
Luo Luo, however, didn’t seem to hear and simply continued enjoying her jelly.

After finally managing to send off the little foxes, Chen Yin let out a long breath as he stepped out of the room, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
“Whew~ Kids sure are full of energy.”
“Hah. You looked like you were enjoying yourself.” A faintly mocking voice came from beside him.
Chen Yin turned his head helplessly.
“Seriously, do you have to keep picking on me? Do you still want me to take you to the Cang Zhe Ancient Domain or not?”
Qing Ying turned her face away with an icy expression, her voice carrying a trace of grievance.
“Words mean nothing. I want to see action.”
“Not be left here to babysit.”
Hearing the resentment in her tone, Chen Yin remained relaxed and unbothered.
“I thought you were getting along pretty well with them, though. They were even calling you ‘Big Sister Qing Ying’ so sweetly.”
“You wouldn’t happen to be one of those tsunderes, would you? Cold on the outside, warm on the inside?”
Qing Ying frowned, too lazy to argue with him, and simply asked directly, “When exactly are we leaving for the Cang Zhe Ancient Domain?”
“What’s the rush? We should at least get Luo Luo and Ya Ya safely home first.”
Chen Yin remained as nonchalant as ever.
“How long will that take?”
“No idea.”
“Then aren’t you just stalling?”
Qing Ying shot him an irritated glare.
“If you don’t want to go, just say so. It doesn’t matter. Just tell me where my brother’s remains are, and I’ll go myself.”
At those words, Chen Yin immediately sighed dramatically.
“Aiya~ The Cang Zhe Ancient Domain is so big, I kind of forgot where exactly it was…”
“Where was it again…”
“You—!”
Just as Qing Ying was about to lose her temper, he casually added,
“Besides, with your current skills, you wouldn’t even make it far enough to see your brother’s remains.”
“Not to mention, you don’t have anywhere else to go now. You might as well stick with me.”
After all, a free and pleasing-to-the-eye bodyguard like her was rare. Coming from the Misty Spirit Sect secret division, Qing Ying was exceptionally skilled at handling certain matters.
If he could keep her around, why wouldn’t he? Chen Yin wasn’t some kind of saint.
“…What did you mean just now, saying I have nowhere to go?”
“You haven’t heard?”
“I did hear some rumors about the Misty Spirit Sect…” Qing Ying asked with a hint of doubt. “Could it be true? That the sect was wiped out?”
“Well, ‘wiped out’ might be an exaggeration. But the upper echelon of the sect, along with your secret division members… I’d say there’s probably not a single one left.”
Chen Yin stroked his chin, looking quite serious.
Surprisingly, Qing Ying didn’t react too strongly. She merely asked in a detached manner,
“For someone capable of that… I must admit, I’m curious.”
“Who do you think it was?”
“Immortal Yu Ling?”
“What if I said it was me? Would you believe it?” Chen Yin looked at her with big, expectant eyes.
Qing Ying stared at him blankly, as if looking at a clown.
“…Alright, fine, you guessed right.”
Chen Yin folded his arms with a mischievous grin.
“I was the one who encouraged my master to do it.”
“Having an invincible master is just amazing. You don’t have to do a thing—if someone annoys you, you just tell your master to wipe them out. Even your own sect isn’t off-limits.”
Qing Ying scoffed again.
“Having Immortal Yu Ling as your master… You must’ve accumulated eight lifetimes' worth of luck.”
“That’s true.”
Chen Yin was still grinning, but deep in his eyes, there was a flicker of something unreadable.
“If only that little old loli wouldn’t make people worry so much… Now that would really be my fortune across eight lifetimes.”
