Chapter 90: Who the Hell Do You Think You Are

Chapter 90: Who the Hell Do You Think You Are

"Speaking of which, your own group was wiped out, yet your reaction is way too calm, don’t you think?"

"What’s there to get worked up about?" Qing Ying’s beautiful eyes flickered slightly, her tone carrying a hint of disdain. "I’ve already told you. The only reason I joined the Misty Spirit Sect secret division was because of my brother."

"I was never as loyal to the Misty Spirit Sect as you think. In fact, almost every member of the secret division wasn’t willing to become the sect’s watchdog."

"Loyalty isn’t what keeps people obedient—it’s leverage."

Chen Yin nodded thoughtfully.

"So, for you, the leverage has simply shifted from the sect’s hands… to mine, am I right?"

He chuckled. "In that case, I won’t be polite about using you like a loyal hound."

Qing Ying locked her gaze onto him, her eyes carrying an unmistakable killing intent.

Chen Yin, however, continued to smile as if he didn’t notice.

Both of them understood the situation perfectly—between the sword aura sealed within her body and the location of her brother’s remains, these two factors had completely tied Qing Ying to Chen Yin’s boat.

There was no escape.

"Suit yourself." In the end, she simply turned away coldly, her attitude as indifferent as ever.

"Call me when you need something. Otherwise, don’t bother me."

"Don’t leave so fast," Chen Yin called out playfully from behind her. "Since you’re following my orders now, why don’t you come over and give me a leg massage or a foot rub while you’re at it?"

Before he could even finish speaking, Qing Ying had already disappeared without a trace, her retreating figure looking almost like she was fleeing.

Chen Yin withdrew his gaze with a satisfied smirk.

—Honestly, teasing an ice-cold beauty like her was seriously addictive.

Watching her look at him with utter disdain, unable to do anything about it, yet still being forced to follow his commands—it was simply delightful.

Humming a little tune, Chen Yin strolled leisurely outside.

Misty Spirit Sect – Grand Hall

After the last incident, the Misty Spirit Sect had invested a great deal of effort in repairing the mountain gate and spent a fortune in spirit stones to reinforce the protective barrier around it. All disciples had been recalled, and no one was allowed to leave without permission.

In short, they had turned the Misty Spirit Sect into a fortified turtle shell—impenetrable from the outside, inescapable from within.

At this moment, Shen Shuanglian sat at a desk in the grand hall, carefully reviewing the sect’s treasury inventory. Beside her, a disciple was incessantly reporting various matters.

Her clear, radiant eyes could no longer hide her exhaustion.

"—Among all the sects, Canghe Sword Sect’s invitation seems the most ill-intentioned. How should we respond?"

"Tell them that our sect is currently hosting Immortal Yu Ling for a lecture on Dao teachings and that we are too occupied to receive them. Ask them to reschedule for another time," Shen Shuanglian replied, her gaze calm and unwavering.

The disciple bowed in acknowledgment.

Shen Shuanglian sighed, setting down the records and rubbing her aching temples.

"Ugh. We can’t keep using Elder Yu Ling as a shield forever."

"I don’t even know how long this excuse will last… Hopefully long enough until Wanxiang Pavilion finishes setting up the new defensive formation," she muttered to herself.

The disciple beside her, seeing how overworked she was, couldn’t help but advise, "Senior Sister—ah, no, Sect Leader, you should take a break."

"The entire sect is depending on you right now. If even you collapse, the Misty Spirit Sect will truly be in danger."

Shen Shuanglian’s face was slightly pale, but she forced a small smile.

"Don’t worry. I can take care of myself."

The disciple dared not say more, simply bowing respectfully before quickly departing.

The grand hall was empty, candle flames flickering, casting light on Shen Shuanglian’s stunning features and her slightly dazed expression.

"That damn bastard sure has it easy."

"But leaving such a mess for me… Couldn’t he have been a little more considerate?" she murmured, though there wasn’t a hint of true reproach in her voice.

If anything, it sounded more like a playful complaint.

The slight upward curve of her lips betrayed the softness and warmth in her heart, as if she had recalled something pleasant.

Xiaoxiang Medical Hall

The Xiaoxiang Medical Hall was even bigger than expected. To handle sudden influxes of patients, they had prepared many empty rooms as reserve wards.

Chen Yin, without a second thought, found an empty room, sprawled out, and slept soundly until broad daylight the next day.

In the end, he was still woken up by an inexplicable commotion.

"What the hell…" Rubbing his eyes groggily, he stumbled to the door and opened it.

Suddenly, a figure flew past right in front of him, making him freeze for a moment.

Chen Yin even rubbed his eyes again, wondering if he was seeing things.

Why the hell was someone flying first thing in the morning?

Before he could make sense of it, an all-too-familiar and annoying voice rang out nearby:

"Miss Nan, my servant deserves to die for violating your rules again! I’ll have him beaten and thrown out of the Medical Hall immediately!"

On the other side, Nan Xiaoxiang’s voice sounded weary and exasperated.

"Young Master Ju, he only took a little girl’s lollipop. Just give it back to her, there’s no need to go that far."

"That won’t do! How dare he upset Miss Nan? That’s an unforgivable sin!"

Ju Shaohe was still putting on a fawning act. "I can’t allow someone like this to ruin Miss Nan’s mood."

Leaning against the doorframe, Chen Yin pulled out a bag of sunflower seeds from his pocket and started munching, watching the spectacle unfold with amusement.

—First thing in the morning, and this guy was already sucking up? Damn, he was setting a deadly pace.

But now, Chen Yin saw through it completely—there was no way Ju Shaohe’s subordinates just happened to keep violating the rules and disturbing the mortals every day.

It was obviously a staged performance, deliberately crafted to gain Nan Xiaoxiang’s favor.

To be fair, this kind of tactic might work on a typical girl with a strong sense of vanity.

However, given Nan Xiaoxiang’s expression that practically screamed “stay away from me,” she clearly wasn’t the type to appreciate this kind of approach.

This kid still lacked experience in being a simp. He needed to learn from the professional simps on the internet.

On the other side, Ju Shaohe was following behind Nan Xiaoxiang like a little lapdog, asking questions left and right, while Nan Xiaoxiang wore the expression of someone forcing herself to tolerate an annoying mosquito.

The scene was quite a sight.

As they strolled along the courtyard path, they eventually passed by the room where Chen Yin was staying.

As they walked by, Nan Xiaoxiang noticed Chen Yin leaning against the doorway, watching the show.

Chen Yin was completely unabashed, grinning as he waved in greeting. “Hey, good morning, Divine Healer Nan.”

For some reason, seeing the look on Chen Yin’s face—one of pure enjoyment at watching the drama—irritated Nan Xiaoxiang.

But outwardly, she maintained her impeccable manners and returned the greeting with a polite bow. “Good morning, Young Master Chen.”

Chen Yin casually nodded, still munching on sunflower seeds. “Up and about so early, keeping Young Master Ju company?”

“—We’re just walking the same way.”

Nan Xiaoxiang caught the teasing tone in Chen Yin’s voice and couldn’t help but glare at him.

Chen Yin, of course, acted like he didn’t see it at all.

Just as Nan Xiaoxiang was getting so annoyed she could grind her teeth, an idea suddenly struck her. She quickly put on a gentle smile.

“Young Master Chen, regarding the follow-up treatment for your friend’s condition, I’d like to discuss it further with you. When would you be available?”

“I’m free anytime, as long as it doesn’t interfere with your important matters.” Chen Yin grinned.

Nan Xiaoxiang’s long lashes fluttered slightly, and her eyes seemed to glimmer as she softened her voice.

“In that case… why don’t we have lunch together and discuss it over a meal?”

Chen Yin’s hand, which had been cracking sunflower seeds, froze for a brief moment before he calmly resumed.

—Heh.

This little lady was planning to use him as a shield.

Sure enough, the expression on Ju Shaohe’s face turned a bit strange, but he didn’t immediately lash out. Instead, he put on a hearty smile and stepped forward.

“Ah, perfect! I’ve taken a liking to Brother Chen here and have been meaning to befriend him.”

“I’ve heard there’s a restaurant on the east side of town with an excellent chef. How about I host a banquet and invite Miss Nan and Brother Chen for some fine wine and a great meal together?”

Chen Yin glanced at Nan Xiaoxiang.

Nan Xiaoxiang’s tone remained indifferent. “I appreciate Young Master Ju’s kind offer. However, Young Master Chen’s friend’s condition is somewhat private and difficult to discuss in public. To protect the patient’s privacy, it would be better if I spoke with him in private.”

Chen Yin shifted his gaze back to Ju Shaohe.

“Ah, Miss Nan, you’re being too formal! Brother Chen and I have shared drinks—we’re practically brothers now. His friend is my friend! What’s wrong with showing a little concern for a friend’s illness?”

Back to Nan Xiaoxiang.

“Young Master Ju may not be aware, but some ailments are rather embarrassing to talk about, especially since Young Master Chen’s friend is a lady. Unless it’s a close friend or relative, it wouldn’t be appropriate.”

Perfect counterplay! Pressure was now back on Ju Shaohe.

“That’s easy enough—how about you two talk first, and once you’re done, we can all eat together?”

Chen Yin watched their back-and-forth play out like a high-level game of strategy, thoroughly enjoying the spectacle. He was just short of having the words “having fun watching the drama” written across his face.

Nan Xiaoxiang, however, had clearly underestimated how persistent and difficult Ju Shaohe could be. Frustrated, she cast a slightly aggrieved glance toward Chen Yin.

Her eyes shimmered, as if they could shed tears at any moment, exuding a fragile, captivating charm that would stir sympathy in anyone’s heart.

But Chen Yin?

He simply grinned, showing his teeth, acting as if he hadn’t seen a thing.

Nan Xiaoxiang slowly closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and when she opened them again, her tone suddenly carried a hint of playful coyness.

“If Young Master Chen agrees… then I shall leave the decision to him.”

Her coquettish tone was particularly sweet and charming, enough to make one’s heart waver.

Chen Yin paused for a moment.

Damn. Now that was a proper baited hook.

As expected, the moment Nan Xiaoxiang spoke like that, Ju Shaohe’s expression finally stiffened.

He turned his head toward Chen Yin with a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes, his voice carrying a slight edge of menace.

“Brother Chen, you wouldn’t refuse to be friends with the Young Master of the Canghe Sword Sect, would you?”

When he said “Young Master of the Canghe Sword Sect,” he emphasized it heavily.

Chen Yin blinked innocently, looking at them both like a pure and clueless little rabbit.

The next moment, he flashed a grin and replied, his voice clear and bright—

“—Who the hell do you think you are?”
