Engineer and Creation IIA

The next day. April 2nd 2040.

Tanami was walking in the fresh air of the neighbour hood. He looked at the watch on his left wrist in his left arm.

The watch was displaying 7:30. He would go to the research and development department of Jetsun later at 9:00. But for now, he got an objective in mind.

That was meeting one of his old friend he usually would play with. It was not that far from his home.

When he arrived at his friend’s home place. Tanami knocked at the door and said, “Hello, anyone home?”

His friend that worked in this place, his name was Tanaka Watanabe. Tanami and Tanaka would usually tinker mechanical stuff. Ranging from bikes, motorcycles, scooters, and karts.

When they grew up, they went separate ways to pursue their dream. But now, Tanami never thought of meeting him again today, to help him to fill his question.

Then a man with black hair, grey eyes, and muscular facial feature. He walked out from through the opened door from the doorway.

Tanami looked at the man, and he knew who it was. He said, “Tanaka, its been a while.”

Tanaka smiled, and said, “Yeah, its been a while. What are you doing here?”

Which Tanami replied, “I just need some help from you.”

Tanaka crossed his arms, and said, “I will help you. But you will owe me one a favour.”

Tanami replied this with a smile, “Fair enough deal. I will get straight to the point.”

Tanami went into Tanaka’s house. He sat one of the sofa. Tanaka went to get some coffee he just made from the machine.

He placed them down on the table. Then said, “Tell me, what do you want to know?”

Tanami went straight to the point with this reply, “I want you to help me know about the prototype race in Europe. Because my boss wanted me to create one of them. I just want to know about the JAF re-entering the motor sport.”

Tanaka scratched his chin. He knew about those races from Europe, high spec cars that outclasses of Japan by far margin.

Tanaka also knew that Japan quitted motor sport years ago, and now he told about those races coming here to Japan.

He replied, “I will look into it. I had some allies in JAF. I will see what I can do.”

Tanami smiled at Tanaka. Then he said, “That is all I want to know.”

Tanak took a sip of his coffee, and then said, “You know, I had feeling about something to happen in the future.”

Which Tanami replied, “Same. That feeling just being crept behind our backs.”

After Tanami done meeting his old friend, Tanaka. He looked at his watch, it was displayed at 8:00. He still got some time left before work.

The R&D of Jetsun should opened at 9:00. At this hour of time, most of the employees were not there yet.

Tanami looked up at the blue morning sky, and said, “A small stroll will not hurt.”

He thought of something inside his mind, although it was complicated. Then, Tanami went to the park. There were people there, most of them were mothers that had kids of one or two. He saw them playing in a sandpit, while some playing at slides, and other things.

Tanami sat on the bench and looked at the phone. There were no messages from Speed Joker. At this hour, she should already be at Tracen Academy.

Then he scroll down his messages. One of them was from his little brother, Keiya.

Keiya and Tanami were from the same family household. Although, Tanami was adopted after his father remarried with another woman, after his wife passed away a long time ago.

From there, he met Keiya. A little bother of his who boast on his own fortitude of his intellegence.

But, there was difference in them. Keiya always had been a very smart little brother, who do his homework before he submitted to the teacher.

For Tanami? He was one that used trial and error. He did failed couple of exams through out middle school, and still manage to graduate from it.

Until he was around High School. He got hooked onto cars. Tanami saw one of the mechanics repair it.

He looked at the old man who was working the undercarriage of the car. He said, “Wow, this looks very cool!”

The old man who heard Tanami’s voice. He slide out from below, and saw Teenage Tanami. He said, “Kiddo, you want to learn about cars?”

Which Tanami nodded furiously. He saw car itself were very cool. Most of them were made by Mitsubishi.

He replied excitedly to the old man, “Yes please!”

Few years later after graduating from High School.

In that year, Tanami was in a university. He was in the engineering department. He learn many things in that faculty. From the materials, basic physics, material stress, and many more. Anything that was related to cars, even aviation.

But one thing that his little brother, Keiya, was jealous about Tanami. He always had a feeling to take his achievements away. Even his own hobby.

Keiya always had been, and wanting to take anything from other people. This time, Tanami was one of them.

Ever since he entered a different university, Keiya always heard about Tanami. He was an absolute genius when it come to machinery. Which made him jealous.

Even after both of them graduate. Tanami went to Toyota Technical Center Higashi-Fuji. Which he had advanced engineering required to build cars.

When Horse racing was already wide spread as it is. Until one day, a men who owned a car did a race in one of the abandoned Horse girl race track. Which reached the news to many people in Japan, and it changes everything in what he saw about cars, not just about loving them, but driving them.

Around at 9:00.

Tanami arrived at the R&D Department of Jetsun. He was currently in the parking lot, parked his motor bike there.

After that, Tanami looked at the building. Its exterior was coloured in white and green. Along with the giant sign said ‘Jetsun research and development’ at the top.

He entered through the main front door of the building. Inside, he met with a receptionist in the front desk. Which he said, “Hello, my name Tanami Hideyoshi. I have a meeting with Doctor Noboru Suzuki today at 9:15.”

The receptionist looked at their PC monitor screen. They went to the spreadsheet app, and read through the schedule for Doctor Noboru Suzuki. Which they found it.

Then they replied this Tanami, “He will be in the office at the second floor.”

The receptionist placed a guest key card on their front desk. They said, “Not to forget this, Mister Tanami.”

Tanami grabbed the card, and put it around the neck. He said, “Thank you. I must go now.”

The receptionist bowed, and said, “Hope you enjoy your tour.”

Tanami walked through hallways and many intersection in the building. He saw many amazing things in front of his eyes.

Engineers and desginers were cooperating on improving existing car designs, and improve them better for future models.

Tanami knew about the Jestun car company lacked in category list of cars. Which right now, many of them were in the prototype and testing stages, before they would put them in them in the list.

He went near the lift gate. He pressed the button that pointed up, which opened the gate of the lift. Tanami entered the lift cabin. He pressed the button that displayed at ‘2’.

The lift gate closed, and the lift went up. It passed the first floor, then stopped at the second floor.

As the lift gate was opened. Tanami walked out from the lift cabin. He saw many offices at this floor. Most of them were designers.

Jetsun does not had much employees in their line up. Around 5 car designers and 10 engineers currently in this building.

When Tanami arrived at the office that the receptionist told him to go. He knocked at the door.

The behind from the came. It said, “You can come in.”

Tanami pushed the door inward, pass through the doorway. He closed the door, and then turned his attention to the man in front of him.

He looked at lot more older than him. Which the man said, “Sit down, Mister Tanami. Relax yourself in my office.”

Which Tanami sat on the chair and relaxed himself there. Noboru looked at him and said, “I heard you need some help?”

Which Tanami nodded, and replied, “Yes. The boss gave a me a prototype race car concept in CAD. Which I did made a wooden mock up.”

Tanami grabbed the wooden car mock up from his pocket. Noboru looked at the prototype car mock up, which it made him grin.

Noboru with his hand on his chin, and smiled while looking at the mock up. He said, “I see, this is going to be interesting.”

Then Noboru stood up from his office chair. He looked at the bookshelf filled with binders. He said, “As much the our Horse girl boos created the mock up. It is alread looking more advanced than most European prototype cars at endurance races.”

Noboru placed the binder on his desk, and opened it up. Tanami saw full of old pictures of cars. Most of them were European, while some were from North America. He said, “This most of the older model of Europe and America’s prototype cars.”

Noboru flipped the pages on that binder, and saw the current car that was racing from last year. The Year 2039.

Tanami was quite stunned by looking at the Endurance cars. Then he said, “I don’t think Japan can reach this level yet.”

Which Noboru nodded in agreement, and replied, “Yes, unfortunately. Since Most car manufacturer here in Japan halted most motor vehicle technology. Which also led to stagnant development on some motor vehicles.”

Then he shift his gaze to the wooden mock up car, and continued saying, “This, I think this will; give us a fighting chance.”

Tanami also gaze at the wooden mock up. Despite there was strange designs on the car, and he knew its effect. This would had a fighting chance of a quick prototype race against the European and American giants, even if its only a moment.

He said, “I see. Then, this would certainly change things here.”

Noboru then closed his binder, and said, “Let us go to the wind tunnel. Because I want to see this model aerodynamic performance.”

Sometime later. Tanami and Noboru went the Development area of the building. There were many engineers and designers comparing to simulation and actual test.

Tanami was walking beside Noboru. He said, “I did not know that Speed Joker hired you guys.”

Noboru smiled. He replied, “Yeah, I was surprised too. She got good eyes on finding talented people surrounding her.”

Then Tanami thought of something in his mind. Which he then said, “This also surprised about the R&D facility already fully operational. Speaking of it, since when?”

Noboru looked at Tanami. He smiled and said, “About a year go. Speed Joker went through many races with her own cars that she built from scratch.”

Tanami nodded in agreement and said, “Same. She even asked me to hired for her. Which she did, and paid on the spot. I really want to laugh but I can’t.”

Noboru then stopped walking, and Tanami followed suit. Tanami saw the air tunnel through the clear glass. He then said, “This facility is very expensive right?”

Which Noboru nodded and replied, “Yup. She won many contract races until she had enough funds to build this. Which it cost around 45 Billion yen.”

That response made Tanami’s mouth wide opened in surprised. He said, “How did she made that much money!?”

Which Noboru replied, “I will never thought of it thoroughly. But I knew, she always had contract races from certain teams and companies. Then use that money to build up her Jetsun company as a whole.”

Tanami then gaze at the wind tunnel, and said, “Made a lot sense that she went through many rally national tournaments.”
