Chapter 133: The Banquet

Soon, Jackie and his crew brought the two idiots to the designated location.

A man in a business suit stepped out of a van. He wore gold-rimmed glasses and had the unmistakable air of a well-dressed scoundrel. As he got out, he calmly pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

“I don’t know why, but that move really makes me want to punch him…”
Jackie crossed his arms over his chest and leaned in to whisper to Pilar.

“Tell me about it. I want to punch him too. That look on his face is just begging for it…”

“Nika, I’m very sorry to meet you like this. Please don’t blame me.”

The refined scoundrel squatted in front of Nika with a pained expression, pulling out a handkerchief to gently wipe the sweat from her face.

“Get lost, Rasin! I told you already—we’re over!”
Nika gritted her teeth and snapped at the man in front of her.

At that moment, the unconscious Dop finally came to. The thing that had been stuffed in his mouth had already been removed by Pilar and tossed aside, looking utterly disgusting.

Seeing Dop wake up, Rasin skipped right past Nika and slowly walked over to him.

“H-Hey! I’m warning you, stay the hell away from me!”
Dop desperately wriggled backward, fear obvious in his eyes.

Jackie, Pilar, and the others exchanged confused looks, completely unable to understand where Dop’s terror was coming from.

Rasin reached out and gently stroked Dop’s face.

That single gesture made everyone watching break out in goosebumps.

“How did you beat him up this badly?”
Rasin slowly stood up, looking genuinely distressed.

“Wait—wasn’t it you who told us to teach him a lesson?”
Jackie’s brain short-circuited for a moment, and he blurted it out in confusion.

“Yes, but I didn’t expect you to actually twist his wrist until it broke.”
Rasin nodded, then ran a hand through his hair, clearly feeling a headache coming on.

Hearing this, everyone stared at each other in silence. In their experience, for this level of payment, merely breaking someone’s wrist was already them holding back.

They’d thought the employer wanted them to take things further, but… judging by this reaction, something clearly wasn’t right.

“Alright. To be honest, I did originally plan to take revenge—after all, he stole my girlfriend. But when I saw him, I changed my mind. Still, this Gig suited me perfectly, so I didn’t bother changing it. That part’s on me…”

“The rest of the payment has already been transferred to your accounts. Please take Nika with you.”

Rasin straightened his clothes and stood up. Then, under the stunned gazes of everyone present, he placed Dop into the vehicle, leaving Nika lying on the ground, completely dumbfounded.

“H-Hey! This guy’s not right in the head! Someone save me!!”

As the engine roared to life and drove away, only Dop’s desperate cries lingered in the air.

Nika stared blankly at her surroundings, her eyes filled with confusion over everything that had just happened.

“…So, uh… that guy… he isn’t, you know?”
“At the very least… he is now.”
“Oh. May God bless Dop.”

Jackie immediately crossed himself, then walked over to Nika and untied her ropes.

Nika slowly got to her feet, clearly still not fully processing the situation.

Rebecca approached with a look of sympathy and brushed the dust off Nika’s clothes.

“Well… looks like you had it pretty rough too…”

Lucy glanced around, then leaned over toward Jhin with curiosity.
“Hey, did you actually understand what just happened back there?”

Hearing that, Roland’s mouth twitched slightly before he guided Jhin to answer.

“Nika and Rasin were a couple to begin with. Nika cheated on him with Dop. Rasin got furious after being cuckolded and hired us. But before we caught them, Rasin saw Dop and fell in love at first sight. He realized that all these years, the one he truly liked was men—and then…”

Lucy’s expression immediately shifted to realization, though her eye twitched a bit.

“Well… the world really is a big place. You see all kinds of people…”

Falco sighed and climbed back into the car.

“Let’s go. The money’s already in. We should celebrate. Whatever happens to those three is none of our business. At least this boss paid generously.”

“That’s true. Let’s move.”

Jackie nodded and got into the car as well. Soon, the group drove off, leaving Nika alone, standing dazed in the wind.

...

Meanwhile, Roland had already arrived at the restaurant where he’d arranged to meet Kiwi. He glanced down at the city below, then heard her voice.

“Didn’t expect you to arrive so early.”

“Can’t let a lady wait, can I? Have a seat.”
Roland smiled, stood up, and pulled out a chair, taking a moment to look over Kiwi’s outfit.

The purple evening dress highlighted her graceful figure. Traces of cybernetic marks from her post-purification modifications still remained, giving her a unique kind of charm. Her white ponytail, usually tied up, was now let down, cascading over her right shoulder.

“Are you getting used to your modified body?”
Roland gestured for the waiter to start serving and asked with a smile.

“It’s fine. When I retract the subdermal armor and apply synthetic skin to cover certain areas, it feels almost the same as before—if anything, it’s even more convenient.”
Kiwi nodded and extended her left hand toward him.

“Want to feel it?”

Roland paused, then chuckled softly.
“We’re basically using the same technology. There’s no real difference.”

“Then forget it.”
Kiwi pouted slightly and started to pull her hand back—only to feel a gentle resistance at her fingertips.

“But I’m interested.”
Roland lightly held her fingertips and smiled at her.

“Does that count as your answer?”
Kiwi tilted her head as she looked at him.

Roland smiled at the beautiful face in front of him. Her current appearance was a fusion of her original looks and Vayne’s features—stunningly beautiful.

“Yes. Are you satisfied, dear Miss Kiwi?”

“I am.”
Kiwi laughed softly and nodded. She withdrew her hand, picked up her wine glass, and drained it in one go. Then, before Roland could fully react, she leaned forward and kissed him.

After a brief moment of surprise, Roland gently wrapped his arms around her waist and returned the kiss.

After a long while, their lips finally parted.

“Still want to eat?”
“…No. Let’s go.”
“Alright. Follow me.”

Roland nodded, draped an arm around Kiwi, and led her out.

Not long after, the waiter stared blankly at the now-empty table for two, completely confused.
