Chapter 161: Making the Situation Even More Chaotic

“The Militech target we need to deal with is just ahead. So—do you have a plan?”
Jhin looked toward the military camp in the distance, then turned to Zed.

“Go in. Kill. Blow it up. Leave. Done.”
Zed glanced at Jhin and replied flatly.

Jhin fell silent for a moment, then couldn’t help asking, “You… are you really an assassin?”

In response, Zed calmly asked a question of his own.
“What does an assassin need to do?”

“Kill the target, avoid being detected, and withdraw perfectly.”

“Correct. Then what’s my method?”

“…Kill the target and erase all traces?”

“Exactly. Any more questions?”

Zed nodded once, then vanished into the darkness along with several assassination-type robots.

After hearing that answer, Jhin was left mentally tangled.

Zed’s way of doing things was, in truth, inseparable from PROJECT Corporation…

In that world, PROJECT Corporation stood alone at the top. All that ever needed handling was a bit of public opinion control…
Oh, public opinion belongs to us too? Then there’s no issue. As long as nothing too obvious is left behind, everything’s fine.

And Zed had always put PROJECT Corporation at ease. His consistent style was to leave no traces—and… no survivors, unless there was a reason to spare them.

Jhin, on the other hand, was different. As a rational madman, he only coveted high-grade cyberware. He usually avoided making too much noise to keep from being discovered, so he typically eliminated only the necessary targets.

When there were a lot of targets, that was another story…

Even though Jhin was shocked by Zed’s theory, his hands didn’t slow down. He quickly cut off and forged all communications in the area, then set up his sniper rifle to prevent any stragglers from escaping.

Dead Eye stood beside Jhin, handling reconnaissance, follow-up shots, and assisting with hacking operations.

“Disable those hidden sentries.”

Zed’s voice came through the comms. Jhin didn’t hesitate. He locked onto the marked targets and launched a netrunner attack, instantly taking them out while falsifying their vital signs.

The two Shadow robots advanced alongside Zed, coordinating step by step as they pushed inward, silently clearing out soldiers one by one.

Edge III headed straight for the camp’s small mechs. The scythe in his hands was designed primarily for armor penetration, making him responsible for assassinating heavily defended targets.

This time, his mission was to destroy the camp’s heavy firepower and vehicles, ensuring there’d be no complications if their presence was exposed.

“You’ve got fifteen minutes,” Jhin said after checking the time.
“In fifteen minutes, reinforcements from other camps will arrive.”

“That’s enough.”

Zed casually replied as his hand moved, slicing open the throat of the man in front of him.

By now, nearly a quarter of the camp’s personnel were dead—including most of the patrol squads and those resting inside their tents.

They had deliberately left a few patrol teams untouched, ones that wouldn’t come through this area for the time being, to preserve the illusion of normal operations.

“You and Dead Eye use programs to control those patrols. We’re going in.”

“Alright. But in that case, you’ll need to move faster.”

Jhin nodded. A red light flashed in his eyes as the patrolmen stiffened, falling under the control of Jhin and Dead Eye. Their consciousness remained intact—they simply couldn’t speak.

They could only watch helplessly as Zed and the others walked straight inside.

After scanning the surroundings, Zed casually tossed out several solid-state electronic smokes, creating clones that charged into other zones. Each time a section was cleared, a bomb was left behind.

As time passed, the commander in the central area finally sensed something was wrong.

Outside was… far too quiet.

With that thought, Ophir slowly drew the dagger at his waist and his sidearm.

Swish—

As a blade thrust forward, Ophir’s Kerenzikov activated instantly. His Sandevistan kicked in at the same time—he kicked the blade aside, then smoothly hurled his dagger and fired three shots straight at vital points.

He rolled forward and burst out of the tent. The moment he saw the situation outside, Ophir ’s expression darkened.

A Shadow robot stood before him, an Edge III robot behind him. As another Shadow robot emerged from the tent, the three formed a triangular encirclement.

Zed stepped out as well, blood slowly running down his body.

“I don’t know how you managed to slip past my little guys out there,” Ophir sneered as his Mantis Blades deployed.
“But it’s a shame—your plan failed.”

Zed had no interest in talking to a dead man. He silently raised his weapon and took his stance.

Five seconds later, Ophir collapsed to the ground, his eyes empty and his body covered in wounds.

After giving him a brief glance, Zed tossed down a bomb, recalled his clones, and left the area with the assassination robots.

“How strong was he?” Jhin asked.

“Not bad.”

Zed replied indifferently while setting the final program.

“Seems like you’re in a pretty good mood?”

“It’s time to go. Next target.”

Ignoring Jhin’s comment, Zed pressed the button.

A thunderous explosion erupted as the entire camp was reduced to ashes, vanishing from the land.

With Zed and Jhin’s actions, the situation grew even more chaotic.
