Chapter 28: A Date Called 'Girls' Get-Together''
A Date Called 'Girls' Night Out'
Ijuin's misunderstanding about Onizuka was cleared up, but nothing had changed.
In a good way or a bad way.
I called out to Ayanokoji as she was arriving to class and asked her to come out into the hallway.
Explaining how Ijuin's misunderstanding was cleared up,
"I see... Thank you, Saotome-san."
Ayanokoji thanked me with a slightly disappointed look on her face.
"N-no, I'm not really doing anything..."
In the end, I feel ashamed that I couldn't do anything.
I was planning to talk to Nagumo during lunch break.
Ijuin no longer has any feelings for Ayanokoji.
In that case, Ijuin probably wouldn't feel too good about me recommending Ayanokoji just because he liked her in the past.
This could be perceived as childish teasing, something that elementary and junior high school students might do.
On the other hand, if he feel disgusted, it will be all for nothing.
During lunch break, I held a strategy meeting with Nagumo.
This time, Ayanokoji is left out.
"It seems like it's going to be difficult to get Ijuin to fall in love with Ayanokoji again."
"Hmm..."
After listening to my story, Nagumo munched on the side dishes from his bento,
"Then why not do it the other way around?"
He suggested,
"The other way?"
"So..."
Nagumo points at me with his chopsticks.
That's bad manners.
"Don't make the student council president aware of Ayanokoji-san, make Ayanokoji-san aware of the student council president."
"...!"
"If we can make Ayanokoji-san develop some kind of feelings for him, maybe the student council president will take notice too."
There's some truth to that... I think.
I have no experience in love so I can't say for sure, but if it were me, I'm not sure I could keep my cool if Ayanokoji acted like she was interested in me.
Although Ijuin has high specs, he is still a man after all.
It seems like he'll have a better chance of falling for her if Ayanokoji makes the first move.
...The only problem for me, who has a small unrequited crush on Ayanokoji, is that it's likely to be a very difficult job.
But I can't just say that.
It's a love that will never come true.
If I could distract Ijuin even a little, that would be the best thing.
"After school, why don't you go to a cafe in front of the station with Ayanokoji-san for a girls' get-together?"
Gi-Girls–
"Girls' Get-Together?!"
"Girls' Get Together."
It may look like a girls' party on the outside, but one of them is a man inside, so...
"It's a legitimate date!"
"Huh?"
Hearing my soulful cry, Nagumo looked at me with pity.
"If you don't know, I'll tell you, dating is not a crime."
Nagumo, who has a sweet tooth, introduced me to a cafe in front of the station that serves delicious pancakes, and for the first time in my life, I ended up asking the girl I like out on a date.
