V2: Chapter 45: The Shura Field is Brewing Up
Liang Lin came to see Liang Di.
She swore she knocked, knocked several times, but no one answered. Noticing the door was ajar, she curiously pushed it open a crack to peek. What she saw was a blushing Bellica, posing strangely.
Uh… the scene was incredibly awkward.
“Miss Liang Lin.”
Bellica, with perfect composure, immediately lowered her hand, coughed lightly, and said seriously, “Miss Liang Lin, I was tidying up Miss Liang Di’s table. Is there something you need from Miss Liang Di? She just went downstairs; you can go find her there.”
Her speed was so fast that Liang Lin rubbed her eyes. Looking at Bellica again, still so serious, Liang Lin couldn’t help but wonder if she had imagined it.
Tomorrow is the annual grand celebration, and Liang Lin wanted to ask Liang Di if they should invite Hilary and Octaville along. She hadn't been to the celebration with her sister in ages, probably three or four years. She was either busy on the battlefield or her sister was constantly depressed and unhappy because of Octaville's disappearance, refusing to go out.
Now, finally, she had the chance to go to the celebration with her family, and Liang Lin was quite happy. Not only could she go with her sister, but this time she also had another family member, Carol, and she would be bringing her daughter along.
"Okay, okay, then I guess I was mistaken?" Liang Lin looked at the other person's serious face, which didn't show any sign of lewdness, but she wasn't sure of her eyes either.
"Then I'll go downstairs to find Liang Di. You can get ready."
Liang Lin muttered to herself, "This is really strange, my eyesight is perfectly fine," as she held onto the stair railing and started walking downstairs.
Just as she reached the bottom of the stairs, she bumped into Liang Di, who was also heading upstairs to look for her. She had only taken a few steps when she encountered her beloved older sister, Liang Lin.
"Sister Liang Lin!" Liang Di greeted her with a beaming smile.
The two were practically on the same wavelength, both thinking about the celebration. However, while Liang Lin was thinking about going with Hilary and Octaville, Liang Di was thinking about giving Liang Lin and Carol two new outfits.
"I was just about to look for you, Sister Liang Lin."
Liang Di was carrying a large box, which looked like it was being carried with great difficulty. Although heavy, Liang Di was quite strong and didn't seem to mind.
Liang Lin nodded. "Ah, I was just about to look for you too. Perfect timing! Uh, you go first, then I'll tell you."
"Here you go~"
Liang Di shoved the box into Liang Lin's arms, her little face flushed, looking expectant. She stole a few glances at Liang Lin and giggled softly.
What is this? Is it a new gift? A faint sense of anticipation stirred within Liang Lin.
She opened it.
Inside were three dresses, not particularly extravagant, but brightly colored, and a cute baby outfit. It was immediately obvious that this last outfit was for Carol.
"For me?" Liang Lin raised an eyebrow.
Liang Di nodded vigorously. "Of course! Who else would I give it to?"
It looked quite pretty
Liang Lin trusted Liang Di's taste the most. However, verbal praise was out of the question.
"It's alright, just passable."
Liang Lin praising someone else? Absolutely not!
Liang Lin closed the gift box and looked at Liang Di. "I have something to tell you. Tomorrow's the celebration, you know, and I was thinking..."
The mention of the celebration reminded Liang Di of Natalie.
That girl wanted to bump into my Sister Liang Lin at the celebration.
Suddenly, she tensed up, terrified of hearing Natalie's name from Liang Lin.
"Go use the magic-based teleportation array to ask my sister and Octaville if they want to come along. My sister and I haven't been to the festival together in ages."
"Phew~"
Upon hearing this, Liang Di breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, she hadn't heard Natalie's name, or she would have gone crazy.
"Okay~ I'll go ask them right away."
The tentacle-wielding girl was in high spirits, practically ready to squat down and draw a teleportation magic circle for Liang Lin on the spot.
Inside the Magic Tower.
Hilary and Octaville were somewhat hesitant upon hearing this. They'd been quite busy lately; Octaville had just returned from the Seaside Magic Tower and hadn't had a chance to rest.
However, after hearing Liang Di say, "Sister Liang Lin said she hasn't been to the festival with her sister in ages," Hilary didn't hesitate and immediately agreed.
“Tell Liang Lin that we’re going to the celebration tomorrow. I’ll go with her.”
Hilary patted Octaville’s shoulder. “Fu, you can rest in the Magic Tower. I’ll go with the two of them.”
“No!” Octaville immediately refused, her tone even a little agitated. Meeting her wife’s questioning gaze, she lowered her voice and whispered,
“I… I haven’t been to the celebration with you in so long. I want to…”
Like a wronged little dog.
Hilary thought for a moment, and finally made a decision.
“Fu, bring Alice back too. Let her come with us to the celebration.”
Alice…
Liang Di had heard the name before and knew who she was.
That was Hilary and Octaville’s two-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
The reason she hadn’t seen the child before was because Octaville had sent her to Goldenwater City right after giving birth. She had people there, and she didn’t want the child to stay in the Magic Tower because she felt it was too unsafe.
The magicians inside the Magic Tower, having suppressed their emotions for too long, were often psychologically disturbed. Octaville dared not leave her child there, fearing that one wrong move and her child might be killed by one of her fanatical followers.
"Are you... sure?" Octaville asked.
Hilary hesitated again, but finally nodded.
"I'm sure, and besides, I haven't seen Alice in so long. I really miss her. Fu, you haven't seen your daughter in so long, don't you miss her?"
Of course I miss her! How could a mother not miss her child?
Especially since it had been several months since she'd seen her child or played with her.
"Alright, Liang Di, you go back now. Tell Liang Lin we'll go with her to the festival."
"Okay~"
Liang Di went back, grinning foolishly on her way to find Liang Lin. She thought that what she had done would surely make her beloved sister happy.
"What?!"
Liang Lin was shocked, frozen in place.
"You?! You mean, my sister has a child too?!"
Liang Lin's jaw nearly dropped to the ground in surprise.
After realizing what she had done, she was so angry she almost twisted her nose. She grabbed the sword at her waist, furious, "Liang Di! Draw a teleportation magic circle for me, teleport me to Octaville's side, and see how I'll deal with her...!"
Liang Lin said, brandishing her longsword a few times in the air.
Liang Lin only then learned that her sister already had a child. Her sister had never told her about it, so she couldn't blame her.
Making my sister suffer the pain of childbirth! Unforgivable!
"Childbirth is so painful, my sister, my sister, sob sob sob..." Liang Lin said, her voice choked with sobs.
The way she said it didn't sound like she was distressed for her sister; it sounded more like she was wailing for her sister's death, all so loudly.
"Uh..."
Liang Di paused, looked away, and scratched her cheek. "It wasn't your sister's who gave birth, it was... it was Octaville's."
"....?"
"....."
"Huh?"
Liang Lin uttered a single, intelligent word, one eye looking upwards and the other downwards, indicating that her brain was overloaded and her cerebellum was atrophied. Her already small cerebellum had become even smaller.
"That's right, Octaville was pregnant and gave birth to the child; your sister wasn't involved. Don't worry, Hilary is perfectly fine; she didn't even experience pregnancy symptoms..."
"Oh..."
Now, Liang Lin finally felt relieved.
The next day.
Liang Lin held a child in her arms, and Octaville also held a child.
The only difference was that the child in Octaville's arms looked a little bigger than Carol in Liang Lin's arms, with light red hair and light red pupils, and looked more like Octaville.
Damn it, why?!
Liang Lin looked at Carol, and the more she looked, the more she felt Carol resembled Liang Di, not so much herself.
So frustrating!
She hadn't felt this frustrated in a long time.
We both had child, so why did her child look so much like her! While mine didn't look so much like me! It wasn't fair! This was so unfair!
Just then, as the four adults and one child stared at each other, that familiar voice, the one Liang Di least wanted to hear, appeared.
Damn it, that clingy thing.
Natalie appeared, followed by several maids, and not far away, guards she had hired protected her.
A battle was about to break out, and a battleground between the two girls was gradually taking shape. Luckily, Laura wasn't there, otherwise, it would have become a battleground between three women.
“Miss Liang Lin, I told you we’d bump into each other, didn’t I? Look, we’ve met!”
Natalie smiled sweetly. “This is fate between us.”
“Then, Miss Liang Lin, can we stroll through the festival together now…?” Natalie looked at Liang Lin expectantly, then her gaze fell on the people around them.
“Miss, may I ask who these people are…”
“Uh.”
Liang Lin looked at Hilary, then at Octaville.
Unable to tell the truth, she could only make something up.
It’s okay, I'm’ good at choosing names.
