V2: Chapter 58: Then, Let's Fight!

"Ah, right, right, right." Liang Di pretended to just realize what was happening, silently retracting the tentacles, her heart filled with endless reluctance.

She really wanted to keep the tentacles wrapped around Liang Lin's body; she missed that feeling so much.

During the past few days of training, Liang Lin had also witnessed two other magicians fighting monsters.

It was a low-level tentacle monster.

The young magician stood in an open space. He was tall, wearing a long robe embroidered with golden runes, and holding a staff inlaid with gems. Although young, his brows revealed a calm and wise demeanor.

A huge tentacle monster slowly emerged. Its body was enormous and ferocious, its skin a disgusting green, its tentacles twisting and writhing, radiating intense malice. Its eyes flashed red, staring intently at the magician, as if wanting to devour him alive.

The magician's staff drew an elegant arc in the air, releasing a faint magical glow.

The tentacle monster roared as it charged at the magician, its tentacles twisting in the air, attempting to bind him. The magician, agile as ever, skillfully dodged the monster's attacks, simultaneously brandishing his staff in a counterattack.

A dazzling beam of magical light shot from the tip of the staff, striking the tentacle monster directly at its body. The monster let out a piercing scream, its body sent flying backward by the magical light, crashing heavily to the ground. However, it did not fall; instead, it lashed out even more ferociously, its tentacles lashing out even more fiercely at the magician.

The magician remained fearless, calmly parrying each attack from the tentacle monster. He would sometimes unleash powerful magical attacks with his staff, and at other times skillfully dodge the monster's tentacles. His figure weaved through the air like an elegant dancer.

Although the tentacle monster was powerful, its attacks gradually weakened under the magician's skillful counterattacks. The magician seized an opportunity, suddenly swinging his staff and unleashing a powerful beam of magical energy. This beam ripped through the night sky like lightning, piercing directly through the tentacle monster's body.

The tentacle monster let out a piercing scream, its massive body gradually collapsing under the bombardment of the magical beam. Finally, it fell to the ground, turning into a pile of rubble.

After watching the battle, Liang Lin seemed to have a sudden epiphany, as if she had suddenly understood something.

In the following days, she trained even harder. Until the weekend, she challenged Liang Di again.

"Liang Di, let's practice one more time."

The moonlight was like water, its silvery glow spilling down.

On a wide expanse of sand, two figures clashed, sword light and tentacles intertwining to create a breathtaking scene.

One was Liang Di, graceful and beautiful, with several tentacles dancing nimbly behind her; the other was Liang Lin, tall and strong, with sharp eyes, her longsword gleaming coldly.

The battle was about to begin.

Liang Lin launched the first attack. She flashed, becoming a blur, her longsword flashing, creating a sharp gust of wind. Liang Di remained calm. She gracefully retreated, her tentacles reaching out like serpents, attempting to entangle Liang Lin's sword.

However, this time, Liang Lin reacted with lightning speed. With a flick of her wrist, her sword instantly changed direction, avoiding the tentacles' grasp, and simultaneously thrust at the tentacle-wielding woman. A flicker of surprise crossed Liang Di's eyes, but she quickly adjusted her stance, skillfully dodging the attack.

Then, a fierce battle of offense and defense ensued.

Liang Lin's swordsmanship was exquisite, each strike aimed directly at vital points; while Liang Di, relying on the agility and versatility of her tentacles, constantly deflected Liang Lin's attacks. The battle between the two was a clash of swords and tentacles, a contest of footwork and speed.

As time passed, the battle gradually intensified. Liang Lin's longsword danced faster and faster, its flashing light seemingly enveloping Liang Di. Liang Di, in turn, constantly maneuvered her tentacles, trying to find an opening in Liang Lin's defenses.

Just then, Liang Di suddenly launched a fierce attack. The tentacles behind her lashed out at Liang Lin like whips, and simultaneously, her figure blurred into a blur as she charged towards Liang Lin. Liang Lin's eyes turned cold; instead of retreating, she advanced, swinging her longsword to meet Liang Di's attack.

Bang!

A loud crash resounded.

The collision of sword and tentacles erupted in intense sparks. Both figures were forced back, but Liang Di seized the opportunity to launch a second attack. Her tentacles, like serpents, coiled around Liang Lin's longsword, while she charged at Liang Lin again.

Liang Lin frowned; she felt her sword tightly bound by the tentacles, unable to break free. However, she didn't panic, but calmly observed the tentacle-wielding maiden's movements. Just as the tentacle-wielding maiden was about to reach her, she swiftly swung her sword, severing the tentacle.

Liang Di cried out in surprise, probably not expecting Liang Lin's swordsmanship to be so sharp this time. She faltered, revealing a brief opening. The swordsman seized the opportunity, swinging her longsword straight for the tentacle-wielding maiden's chest.

A flicker of surprise crossed Liang Di's eyes, but she quickly adjusted her stance, using her remaining tentacles to block the sword. Although she blocked the attack, the immense impact still forced her back several steps.

"Sister Liang Lin, your strength is as amazing as ever!"

Even at this point, Liang Di could still tease her with a smile, which made Liang Lin extremely unhappy, feeling disrespected.

The two separated again, exchanging a glance, both seeing seriousness in each other's eyes. They both knew that the battle had reached a fever pitch, and the slightest carelessness from either side could lead to defeat.

However, at that moment, both of them simultaneously sheathed their weapons. Liang Lin returned her longsword to its sheath, while Liang Di retracted all her tentacles.

They smiled at each other, understanding that there was no need to continue the battle. Because they both knew that they could not defeat each other this time.

Clap clap clap!

Behind them, Hillary smiled, clapping her hands, her eyes filled with love and pride as she looked at Liang Lin.

"Little sister, you can try to take care of a low-level monster now."

"Really?!"

Liang Lin's eyes shone with an unusual light. She had finally waited for this day. Having not fought in so long, her body trembled slightly at the prospect of battle.

My first time facing a monster.

She was so nervous.

Twilight descended, the last rays of sunlight swallowed by the night, leaving only a deep blue-black. On this forgotten ruin, two figures stood. They were clad in black, form-fitting battle armor.

Liang Lin gripped a gleaming longsword tightly, her eyes flashing with determination and resolve. Beside her, Liang Di possessed long, flowing silver-white hair that swayed gently in the night breeze, carrying an air of mystery. Her face was exquisite, like a sculpted work of art, her bright eyes gleaming with unwavering resolve. But what was most striking about her were the numerous tentacles extending from her back, each as agile as a serpent, shimmering with a faint light.

Suddenly, a low roar shattered the stillness of the night.

Two enormous, tentacle-like monsters slowly approached from the other side. Their bodies were massive and ferocious, their skin a strange dark purple, their tentacles twisting and writhing, radiating intense malice. Their eyes flashed red, fixed intently on the two girls before them, as if they wanted to devour them alive.

Hilary stood behind Liang Lin and Liang Di, her grip on her longsword tightening nervously, her palms sweating.

If—and I mean if—any danger befell Liang Lin or Liang Di, I will rush to their aid immediately.

Liang Lin took a deep breath, composing herself, preparing for this life-or-death battle. She knew that against such monsters, the slightest carelessness could be fatal.

Liang Di also took a deep breath, preparing to meet the attack of the two tentacle monsters. Her tentacles danced in the air like agile whips, emitting a faint glow.

The battle was about to begin.

Liang Lin moved like the wind, her longsword like a dragon. She struck first, swiftly charging towards one of the tentacle monsters, attempting to subdue it with lightning speed. However, the tentacle monster was more agile than she had anticipated; its tentacles seemed alive, twisting and writhing in the air, trying to ensnare Liang Lin's body.

Liang Lin dodged the tentacle's attack, simultaneously slashing her sword at the monster's chest. However, the monster's skin was exceptionally tough; the longsword only left a large scar, not completely severing it. The swordswoman was startled; she knew she couldn't underestimate these two monsters.

"This purple garlic-skinned tentacle is incredibly tough!" Liang Di warned from the side.

Purple garlic...

Despite the seriousness of the battle, Liang Lin almost burst out laughing. This purple garlic had hit her funny bone.

Two tentacle monsters attacked simultaneously. One was targeting Liang Lin, while the other, about to swing its tentacles at her, was intercepted by Liang Di.

The tentacles, like giant pythons, twisted in the air, attempting to bind Liang Di. Then, the tentacle lady, agile as ever, skillfully dodged the monsters' attacks, simultaneously wielding her own tentacles in a counterattack.

For a moment, the beach was filled with the sounds of intertwined and clashing tentacles. The battle between Liang Di and the tentacle monsters was incredibly fierce; both sides exchanged blows, neither giving an inch. The tentacle lady's tentacles sometimes pierced the monsters like arrows, sometimes lashed their bodies like whips. The monsters, in turn, tried to use their tentacles to entangle Liang Di, rendering her immobile.

In this battle, Liang Di displayed astonishing combat skills and intelligence. She not only accurately predicted the monsters' attack trajectories but also skillfully used her tentacles to counterattack. Her tentacles danced in the air like an elegant dancer, radiating graceful light in the battle.

However, the tentacle monsters were not to be trifled with. Their skin was exceptionally tough; while Liang Di's attacks could leave wounds, they couldn't inflict fatal damage. Moreover, their tentacles were numerous and their attack methods diverse; although she knew she would ultimately win, they were still very difficult to deal with.

Liang Di pulled a magic wand from her sleeve.

"Break!"

Several explosive magical sounds erupted in the air, making Liang Lin's ears hurt.

Just as Liang Lin was entangled with the first tentacle monster, another tentacle monster, seemingly focused on Liang Di, suddenly extended a tentacle and attacked from behind. Its tentacle, like a long whip, lashed fiercely at Liang Lin's back. Liang Lin felt intense pain; she groaned, but she didn't give up. She gritted her teeth and withstood the blow.

"Sister Liang Lin!" Liang Di cried out, trying to run to her.

"No need!" Liang Lin stopped her. "You focus on your attack! I'm fine. If you come over, I'll be distracted, and that could get me into trouble!"

"Okay, okay!"

But Liang Di was still worried, glancing at Liang Lin every now and then.

Taking advantage of the moment the tentacle monster retracted its tentacles, Liang Lin swiftly turned and swung her sword at its tentacles.

This time, she used all her strength; the longsword drew a dazzling arc in the air. However, the tentacle monster seemed to have anticipated this; its tentacles twisted in mid-air, dodging Liang Lin's attack.

Damn it, these guys are really cunning.

Liang Lin felt a surge of frustration; she knew she was in trouble. These two tentacle monsters were not only powerful but also extremely cunning; they seemed to be able to predict her movements.

Meanwhile, Liang Di...

She took a deep breath, adjusted her breathing and rhythm, then concentrated her mind, gathering all her tentacles together to form a powerful force. She swung her tentacles fiercely, launching a fatal blow at one of the tentacle monsters.

A deafening crash followed as the tentacle monster, severely wounded by Miss Tentacle's attack, let out a piercing scream.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Liang Di continued her assault, her movements swift, tentacles raining down like a dense storm. This time, she held nothing back, delivering a powerful blow that knocked the tentacle monster to the ground.

Liang Lin heard the crash and turned to see the tentacle monster lying on the ground, its body rapidly shrinking into a shriveled corpse.

Damn it, Liang Di got there first again.

Liang Lin was furious, and looking at the ugly tentacle monster in front of her, she became even angrier.

"Sister Liang Lin..."

"Don't come any closer!" Liang Lin shouted. "I'll handle it myself!"

Liang Di, who had just taken a step, quickly retracted her foot. She and Hilary were both tense, watching Liang Lin's battle with the tentacle monster intently.

Just as Liang Lin was in trouble, she suddenly thought of a plan.

She took a deep breath, regulated her breathing and rhythm, and then charged at one of the tentacle monsters again. This time, she didn't rush to attack, but carefully observed the tentacle monster's movements and habits.

These tentacle monsters were different from Liang Di's.

After observing for a while, Liang Lin discovered that these tentacle monsters had a brief opening when attacking. She seized this opportunity, flashed behind the tentacle monster, and plunged her longsword into its body. The tentacle monster let out a scream, its body trembling violently. She struck with all her might, driving her longsword deep into the tentacle monster's chest.

With two piercing screams, the tentacle monster collapsed heavily, its body rapidly shrinking until it became a shriveled corpse.

Liang Lin, panting, looked at the two enormous corpses left on the ground, a wave of relief washing over her. She knew she had just survived a life-or-death battle; if she hadn't been calm and quick-witted, she would likely have perished at the hands of these two monsters.

Well, it was also thanks to Liang Di's help.

"Well done! Liang Lin! Liang Di!" Hillary laughed, running up to the two and excitedly putting her arms around their shoulders. "Alright, that's great today! Let's go back to the Magic Tower! Let's go eat barbecue!"

Barbecue?

Yay~

"Okay!"

Liang Lin cheered, her steps becoming lighter.

The words "eat barbecue" made her feel like she was back on the battlefield at the border.

A few magicians remained inside the magic tower. Upon hearing about the barbecue, their faces lit up with long-lost smiles, and their recently tense nerves seemed to relax considerably.

“Let’s go eat outside. If we eat inside the tower, we’ll have to leave someone to keep watch. If we go outside, we can all keep an eye on the beach, so we won’t be afraid of monsters suddenly appearing.”

“Yay!”

Everyone cheered.

A group of people sat around a makeshift wooden barbecue grill, their faces beaming with laughter and anticipation. Several pieces of marbled meat sizzled under the fire, dripping fat and sparks flying.

Everyone held various grilling tools; some busily turned the meat, while others prepared sauces. The air was filled with the enticing aroma of grilled meat and spices.

Liang Lin swallowed hard. No matter how many delicacies she ate, she always craved roasted meat.

As the fire grew stronger, the aroma of the roasted meat intensified. The skin of the meat chunks turned golden and crispy, while the inside remained tender and juicy. Each time someone took a piece of roasted meat from the rack, it was met with cheers and applause. Everyone eagerly savored the delicious dish, enjoying the tender meat and its rich, flavorful taste.

Between the roasting, Liang Lin also took out a bottle of ale. The liquid, illuminated by the firelight, had an amber hue and emitted a subtle aroma of malt and fruit. They clinked glasses gently, enjoying the mellow liquor and savoring this rare moment of tranquility.

The ale had a rich and smooth taste, slightly sweet on the palate, with a long finish, perfect for cutting through the richness and enhancing the enjoyment. In this outdoor barbecue setting, the ale was the perfect companion.

"Cheers!"

Everyone enjoyed the delicious grilled meat, drank, and chatted about recent gossip. Laughter and conversation mingled, creating a warm and harmonious scene.

Hilary warned everyone not to drink too much and to stay alert, because they were on a dangerous beach, and a slight mistake could be fatal.

Just in case, she only took a few small sips of ale, constantly watching the sea, fearing something bad might happen.
