V2: Chapter 128: The Date
"Uh."
Liang Lin and Liang Di exchanged glances, simultaneously offering polite smiles.
"Alright, Your Highness, please go first."
Liang Lin and Liang Di were exceptionally polite, making way for Gael.
Gael walked ahead, with Liang Lin and Liang Di chatting and laughing behind him. He felt his nose turn red, his mouth forced into a clown's mask.
"Miss Liang Lin, Miss Liang Di, please get into the carriage."
However, on the surface, he had to maintain a composed demeanor. Gael extended his hands to Liang Lin and Liang Di, "Please get into the carriage."
Liang Lin shook her head. "As you know, Your Highness, I never like being treated like an ordinary young lady, so such formalities are unnecessary."
After she got into the carriage, she extended her hand to Liang Di.
Gael was taken aback.
“My sister’s used to be helped by me to get into the carriage, Your Highness, you can understand that, right?” Liang Lin’s tone grew increasingly sharp and sarcastic.
But Liang Di liked her sister like that; it made her feel incredibly safe.
“Uh.”
Gael’s smile froze. He awkwardly withdrew his hand. After being rebuffed so many times, his tone inevitably became sarcastic.
“Miss Liang Lin, you and Miss Liang Di are truly sisters. Anyone who didn’t know better would think you grew up together.”
Liang Di covered her mouth with her folding fan and chuckled softly, “Although we didn’t grow up together, our bond is deeper than that of ordinary sisters.”
Indeed, it’s deep enough that we have a daughter together.
“Oh, hehe, hehehe…”
Gael couldn’t maintain his fake smile any longer; it became particularly weak, even sharp.
“Your Highness, won’t you get in the carriage?” Liang Di asked.
Liang Lin looked at Gael’s smile and felt a wave of nausea. She didn’t want to look at him anymore.
"Please, have a seat."
Gael also boarded the carriage.
The journey was silent, the atmosphere inside the carriage somewhat awkward. No one spoke, and Liang Lin and Liang Di didn't exchange any words, both looking out the window.
Gael was furious and trying to compose himself, so he couldn't speak.
Upon arriving at the market, Liang Lin found herself surrounded by a vibrant scene.
Sunlight streamed through the clouds, illuminating the bustling market. The air was thick with the enticing aromas of spices, roasted meats, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Along the market streets, colorful tents and stalls stretched as far as the eye could see, displaying a dazzling array of goods—from exquisite jewelry and luxurious silks to practical farm tools and pottery.
However, Liang Lin was already tired of seeing all of this.
The merchants enthusiastically promoted their wares. They came from different places, spoke different languages, but all wore the same smiles and anticipation. Customers moved among the stalls, selecting their favorite items and haggling with the merchants, their voices rising and falling in a lively cacophony.
In the center of the market, a fountain spouted clear water, the spray sparkling in the sunlight. Groups of children gathered around the fountain, laughing and chasing each other. In the distance, caravans of carriages and camels slowly approached, laden with goods from afar. Their arrival intensified the atmosphere of the market. Merchants rushed forward to greet the travelers, exchanging goods.
“Sister Liang Lin, the circus.... it seems to be over there.”
Sunlight streamed into the wide open space, making the circus wagons and colorful flags gleam. The flags, adorned with wondrous patterns and vibrant colors, fluttered gently in the breeze.
A crowd of spectators gathered around the circus from all directions. Some stood, some sat, some chatted in small groups, and some stood alone, their eyes fixed intently on the circus entrance. Children ran excitedly, chasing fluttering ribbons and balloons, their laughter and screams echoing throughout the air.
A child bumped into Liang Lin. Just as the child looked up to apologize, he saw Liang Lin glaring at him with wide eyes. Liang Lin hadn't meant to; she had simply been bumped and hadn't quite caught her breath yet.
"Waaaaah..."
Liang Lin: "?"
No.
Shouldn't I be the one who got hit? What are you crying about?!
"Hey, you little brat...?"
"Here's some candy, go play somewhere else." Liang Di gave the child a piece of candy and quickly sent him away.
"Sister Liang Lin, the circus is about to start, don't take it to heart with a child~"
Liang Di took Liang Lin's arm.
Vendors weaved through the crowd, hawking various snacks and toys. The aroma of grilled meat, the sweetness of candy, and the aroma of popcorn mingled together, creating an enticing scent that made one's mouth water. Audiences selected their favorite foods and souvenirs, enjoying them while anticipating the upcoming circus performance.
At the entrance of the circus, a group of performers in elaborate costumes were making their final preparations. Some were tuning their instruments, some were tidying up their props, and others were practicing their performance moves.
"Let's sit here, sister." Liang Di pulled Liang Lin to sit in the front row.
Next to Liang Lin and Liang Di, there was an empty seat.
This put Gael in a dilemma.
Where should I sit?
Wouldn't sitting on the either side make the other lady jealous?
Just as he was hesitating, a man casually sat down next to Liang Di. Gael was stunned. Seeing that the seat next to Liang Lin was about to be taken, Gael didn't hesitate and plopped down next to Liang Lin.
Liang Lin's smiling face instantly drooped, feeling like she'd eaten a poisoned pill.
On stage, the actors, dressed in gorgeous costumes, began their performance. Acrobats tumbled and leaped high in the air, their bodies seemingly unbound by gravity, light and free—yes, Newton must be turning in his grave.
Animal trainers performed with their animals. Lions, tigers, elephants, and other ferocious beasts, guided by their trainers, performed various difficult maneuvers, while monkeys, puppies, and other small animals displayed their comical and adorable antics.
The audience cheered enthusiastically.
Liang Lin had no interest in watching the performance at all. The thought of a greasy man sitting next to her made her feel uncomfortable and devoid of any other mood.
“Sister Liang Lin, move closer to me.” Liang Di hugged her sister’s waist, saying, “Don’t get too close to him.”
“Okay.”
Liang Lin had just moved a little closer when she noticed that Gael, who was beside her, had also moved closer.
Liang Lin: “?”
Wait, what’s with this persistent clinging?
“Miss Liang Lin, you…”
