V2: Chapter 137: Eradicating a Major Cancer

Miss Hedy was the talk of the town.

When she walked out of the Langwendi house, the young ladies from several noble families waiting outside looked at her with adoration—a treatment she had never received before.

“I told you long ago, Miss Langwendi and I are friends, no, we have a very good relationship. You wouldn’t believe me, but I just proved it!” Hedy said arrogantly.

The young ladies nodded quickly.

“But, Miss Hedy, did you see what Miss Liang Lin's illegitimate child looks like?” one of the ladies asked.

Hedy shook her head. “I didn’t even hear the child cry, let alone see the child. It must be a rumor.”

This could be considered one of her good deeds.

The next day.

Hedy stayed up all night to finish writing that letter. It was clear that in her heart, love far outweighed family affection. Some people are like that; they sacrifice themselves for love their whole lives, sacrificing everything. In their hearts, love is the most important thing. We can only say we respect and understand this.

Despite her dark circles, she shoved several thick letters into Liang Di's hands.

"These are the letters I wrote, Miss Liang Di. Could you take a look and see if they're alright? If there's anything wrong, please let me know, and I'll revise them right now."

Liang Di pretended to read them, nodding as she went, seemingly quite satisfied.

"Not bad, nothing needs changing."

Liang Di handed the letters back to Hedy. "Remember to put them in a well-hidden corner, otherwise, if they see them too early, your elopement will easily fail."

Hedy frowned; she really didn't know where to hide them.

Liang Di casually suggested, "For example, somewhere on the bookshelf, or... in one of those rarely opened books, or maybe in a locked drawer in the study."

Hedy immediately understood.

"I understand, Miss Liang Di!" Hedy excitedly left again.

She had never doubted Liang Di; she genuinely believed Liang Di was wholeheartedly helping her leave, that it was for her own good, and that they shared the same views on love. Moreover, on the way, she had reread her letter and noticed nothing unusual.

However, the moment she closed the letter and tucked it into her bosom, the words changed. In other words, Liang Di had switched the letter long ago. It wasn't a magic trick on the letter itself, but rather Hedy's eyes that had been bewitched. What she saw now were the words she wanted to see, the words she remembered she should have written.

As for the new content written… well, Liang Di had racked her brains for a long time before writing it.

Liang Di was incredibly grateful to Hedy. After visiting the Wagner mansion so many times, she had finally seen the handwriting of the Wagner family head. Referring to some of his writings, she replicated his handwriting and tone.

Inside the Wagner family residence.

"Miss Hedy."

"Miss Hedy."

All the servants treated Hedy with utmost respect.

Hedy smoothly entered her father's study.

Today, the head of the Wagner family was out on business. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Hedy slipped the letters she had written into a corner of the bookshelf. Thinking it over, she decided against it and pulled them out, only putting two letters in. She hid the remaining three elsewhere, afraid her father wouldn't see them, yet also afraid he would see them too soon.

Before putting the letters away, she reread them. The contents were exactly what she had written. Hedy was moved by what she had written, and tears welled up in her eyes.

After she finished preparing, she changed into a maid's outfit, used the gray powder Liang Di had given her to blacken her face, and walked towards the door. She was somewhat apprehensive, thinking the servants would stop her. However, they only glanced at her and let her out.

Hedy was overjoyed. Blackening her face would prevent anyone from noticing, right? How come she hadn't known before?

Of course, blackening her face didn't completely prevent the servants from noticing; it was just that the gray powder Liang Di had given her ensured that others could only see the face they wanted to see. Seeing her in a maid's outfit, the servants assumed she was just a maid in the manor and automatically gave her a maid's face. And her lover, with whom she had arranged to meet at that place, saw Hedi's face.

Back home, Liang Di, watching all this through her magic crystal ball, revealed a triumphant smile.

“Now, all we need to do is wait.” She gently stroked the magic crystal ball. “I must tell Sister Liang Lin this good news. She’ll be so happy. Another unjust person is about to disappear from this world.”

Liang Di skipped and hopped to find Liang Lin.

“Sister Liang Lin, I have some great news!”

Liang Lin was practicing her swordplay in the back garden. Hearing this, she stopped and wiped the sweat from her brow.

“What good news?”

“The Wagner family, the biggest cancer in Soteland, is about to disappear from this world.”

“Sister Liang Lin, I did something very righteous. Shouldn’t you praise me?” Liang Di leaned closer to Liang Lin and pointed to her cheek.

Liang Lin, however, didn't seem to care. "Does upholding justice need a reward? Isn't this what we should be doing? If there's a reward for doing this kind of thing, then justice is distorted."

"Oh..."

Liang Di pouted and picked up Carol beside her.

"Then let my darling daughter kiss me. Come on, Carol, come give Mommy a kiss."

Now that Liang Di and Carol were snuggling together, Liang Lin didn't care anymore. She let the two of them be happy, and Liang Lin mldidn't interfere. Liang Di interpreted Liang Lin's behavior as a sign that she had already accepted her a large part; now it was just one step away. Ideally, there would be some kind of hero-saves-the-damsel-in-distress scenario, so that her Sister Liang Lin could wholeheartedly fall into her arms.

“We just need someone to report for us. I'm definitely not going to be the one; that would arouse the king's suspicion, and I'm not exactly his loyal dog anymore.”

Liang Di scanned the list of high-ranking nobles. “Sister Liang Lin, which one do you think is more suitable?”

Liang Lin didn't even recognize all the high-ranking nobles. Seeing those names, each one more unfamiliar than the last, she was being asked to make a decision? She couldn't possibly make one.

“Don't ask me about these things. Asking me to go to the battlefield to fight is fine, but asking me to use my brain? I can't think of anything.” Liang Lin accepted her lack of strategic thinking.

Liang Di continued scanning the list, finally settling on one name.

“I choose this one.”
