V2: Chapter 157: Child Deceives Mother
"It's nothing."
Doris wiped away her tears, smiled gently at Gael, and held his hand tightly. "Gael, don't worry, our wishes will come true. I will always support you."
Although he found these words strange, Gael nodded. "Yes, I will try my best, Mother."
Although Gar was foolish, blindly confident, and not very bright, he loved his mother, like countless ordinary children, deeply.
"I understand, Gael, you can go now."
Doris had made up her mind.
From now on, she would plan how to go to the beach and bring that thing back.
Inside the Langwendi Mansion
"Achoo!"
She had caught a cold.
Carol had a string of snot hanging from her nose and sniffed hard.
Liang Lin sighed. She was like a weary old mother, fetching a handkerchief to wipe Carol's runny nose. "I told you not to stay out too long! Now look what happened, you've caught a cold!"
Thankfully, Carol didn't have a fever. If she did, Gladys and Laura would be huddled in a corner, shivering.
"I'll sleep with Carol tonight and keep an eye on her. She always kicks off the covers in the middle of the night," Liang Lin said, picking Carol up.
"Miss Liang Lin, Gladys and I can handle that," Laura said.
Liang Lin shook her head, disagreeing.
"No, I'm worried about you watching her, especially..." Liang Lin's gaze fell on the foolish vampire princess.
Gladys immediately pouted, pretending to whistle, her eyes darting away into the distance, acting as if it were none of her business.
"Sigh."
Liang Lin felt overwhelmed and let out a heavy sigh.
“Sister Liang Lin, you can’t stay up all night, can you? Let me sleep with you.”
Liang Di seized the opportunity, wanting to impress Liang Lin.
“That way we can take turns sleeping. When you’re sleepy, I’ll watch over Carol, and when I’m sleepy, I’ll wake you up so you can watch her.”
Okay, the child was just an excuse; it was just a minor cold.
Liang Di wasn’t particularly concerned, though she felt sorry for her, but it wasn’t to the point of staying up all night. However, this was a chance to be close to Liang Lin, even share a bed, so she had to take the plunge.
Liang Lin didn’t see through her little scheme, thinking the other woman was genuinely worried about Carol.
Sigh, she was really thoughtful.
“Okay, then you can sleep with me.”
Liang Lin, with the thought of “parents’ hearts are always full of love,” agreed to Liang Di's request.
Plans were going well, and Liang Di was overjoyed. She even went back to her room, changed into what she thought were adorable pajamas, and skipped into the room with a rabbit plushie, acting like a child, even though she was clearly a mother of a four-year-old.
Normally speaking, Liang Di was only twenty-one years old. At her age, she really shouldn't be having a child with another woman.
"I'll sleep on the outermost side, Carol in the middle, and you can sleep on the innermost side," Liang Lin arranged, deliberately adding an extra blanket to the bed.
The room was warm, the fire in the fireplace was high, illuminating the entire room as bright as day.
Liang Di's face instantly fell when she saw the separate blanket.
Sigh, even this little bit of fun has to be taken away from me.
"Isn't it a bit inconvenient?"
She made a last-ditch effort.
Liang Lin didn't understand what she meant by inconvenient. "It's perfectly convenient. You can see Carol, and I can see Carol. Isn't that just right?"
"....."
Never mind.
"I feel like all my libido is gone," Liang Di sighed. She decided to just keep an eye on Carol and fulfill her responsibilities as a mother.
It was quite late, but Carol didn't seem very sleepy. She looked left and right, then suddenly remembered that this was the first time both her mothers had slept with her. Thinking of this, she smiled happily.
"Mama, can you sleep with me every day from now on?" she asked Liang Lin.
Liang Lin was a little dizzy and misunderstood her daughter's meaning. "Okay, then Mama will sleep with you every day."
She reached out to hug Carol.
But the little one broke free from her embrace, blinking her big, watery eyes at Liang Lin. "No, Mama, I mean, I want both of you to sleep with me every night from now on, both of you."
At this, Liang Lin's sleepiness vanished instantly. She instinctively looked at Liang Di, only to find Liang Di also looking at her expectantly.
Liang Lin: "....."
She really did raise a good daughter, a sweet and considerate little girl.
"Who taught you this?" Liang Lin frowned. She felt that Liang Di had taught Carol these things when she wasn't around.
Liang Di felt wronged. She hadn't said anything, and had never taught Carol these things. Some things Carol had figured out on her own; perhaps... no one knows a mother better than her daughter.
Carol was truly her good daughter.
"Your Mommy is very busy, she doesn't have that much time." Liang Lin didn't want to project a weak image in front of the child, so she shifted all the blame onto Liang Di.
However, Liang Di didn't want to take the blame. Besides, she was willing to sleep with Liang Lin and Carol every day. So, this time, ignoring her sister's expression, she said without hesitation, "I have time. I was busy before, but not anymore."
"....."
Damn it, this girl is undermining me, isn't she?!
Liang Lin glared fiercely at Liang Di, like a hungry wolf spotting its prey. Liang Di felt guilty and avoided eye contact, looking away.
Carol, though young, was clever; she knew who the real problem was. So, she reached out her chubby little hands and hugged Liang Lin's arm, rubbing her little face against it.
"Mama~"
"You two should sleep with me, because if I sleep alone, um, um... I get really, really scared at night, and sometimes I even have nightmares!"
At such a young age, she's already learned to lie.
"With both of you by my side, I feel so at ease."
"Okay, okay."
Liang Di was overwhelmed with gratitude, almost bursting into tears.
What a wonderful daughter she is! So considerate! It seems all the pampering I'd given her hadn't been in vain.
Liang Di quickly echoed her daughter, "I think so too. Carol is still so young, she needs her mothers' company right now. We can't neglect our child because of work!"
