V2: Chapter 192: Sword and Heart United
Doris sneered.
“With your ordinary human body?”
A vortex swirled in her eyes.
Don’t look into her eyes.
Don’t look into her eyes.
Liang Lin silently repeated this to herself, then closed her eyes.
This was undoubtedly a dangerous move. Without sight, she couldn’t see anything; she could only hear what was happening around her.
However, this was the only solution. As long as her eyes remained open, Doris had many ways to make her look directly into her eyes and pull her into the illusion.
Keeping my eyes closed is the best option.
Doris frowned slightly.
“Foolish!”
With a mere ordinary human body, how could she possibly defeat me? Even without using illusions, if Liang Lin don’t open her eyes, how can she defeat my monstrous body and tentacles?
“Hoo~”
Liang Lin took a deep breath, then exhaled heavily, her sword still gripping her hand.
Thump
Thump
Thump
She could hear her heart pounding.
A whole year of training was finally going to be put to use.
Blindfolded, ready to fight.
One wrong move and she could be pierced through by tentacles.
Even with her eyes closed, it wasn't safe. If she got too caught up in the fight, she might open them. So, Liang Lin pulled a strip of black cloth from her pocket.
A soft black ribbon tightly bound Liang Lin's eyes, leaving only her furrowed brows and resolute jawline visible. The surrounding air seemed to freeze; every breeze carried the damp cold and threat unique to the tentacle creatures, filling the space with an extremely oppressive atmosphere.
Her hands trembled, not from fear, but from excitement for the battle to come. She had been looking forward to this day for so long.
No more talk, no more politeness, just go for it.
With her keen intuition, Liang Lin quickly adjusted her state.
The longsword in her hand became an extension of her body; each swing was incredibly precise, the sword light weaving like silk, repelling the tentacles that tentatively approached. Doris was stunned by this sudden and fierce attack, momentarily hesitant to approach.
Something is wrong.
Doris hadn't known Liang Lin, and in fact, she had never taken Liang Lin seriously. She hadn't expected Liang Lin's swordsmanship to be so powerful, so fierce—even blindfolded, she could achieve such accuracy.
This must all be taught to her by Liang Di.
"Heh, Liang Di, what a coward! She actually trained you, only to have you fight me."
Doris mocked, standing still, the tentacle behind her suddenly thrusting forward.
"No!"
Liang Lin swung her sword with incredible speed, severing the attacking tentacle.
"This is my own choice! My own strength!"
However, as time passed, Doris gradually adapted to Liang Lin's attack rhythm and began to reveal her true power. She was no longer merely testing the waters; she had begun a strategic siege.
Her tentacles, acting individually, used their astonishing agility and strength to launch surprise attacks from all directions, or several joined together to form a massive net, attempting to trap Liang Lin within.
Faced with Doris's offensive, Liang Lin began to feel unprecedented pressure.
Every swing of her sword required greater caution, for a misjudgment could lead to her being entangled by the tentacles and plunged into an abyss of no return.
Liang Lin's breathing became rapid, and sweat soaked her clothes.
Is it superhuman hearing?
Doris raised an eyebrow.
Then, let's make noise.
Liang Lin gritted her teeth.
How despicable.
Her once-precise swordsmanship began to falter; she could no longer easily predict the tentacles' movements, and each swing was accompanied by uncertainty and hesitation.
Doris exploited this, launching continuous surprise attacks from all angles, forcing Liang Lin to desperately try to defend herself. Sweat streamed down Liang Lin's forehead like fine rain, soaking her clothes.
Liang Lin's breathing grew increasingly rapid, each breath accompanied by a heavy gasp. She could feel her strength rapidly dwindling, and a growing weariness creeping deep within her.
Doris noticed Liang Lin's weakness and became even more ruthless.
More tentacles surged from all directions, wrapping, tearing, and stabbing, attempting to overwhelm Liang Lin in one fell swoop. Liang Lin's longsword, though still sharp, seemed increasingly powerless against Doris's relentless onslaught.
Liang Lin tried to regulate her breathing and rhythm, attempting to regain her initial composure and calm.
But Doris's attacks were like an endless tide, wave after wave, leaving her almost no chance to catch her breath. She could feel her swordplay becoming chaotic; each swing felt like a brush with death.
In this life-or-death moment, a powerful will to survive surged within Liang Lin. She knew she couldn't give up; she had to find a way to turn the tide.
However, Doris's attacks were like a giant net, trapping her firmly within it.
Her eyes were blindfolded, and the lack of sight would greatly increase the difficulty of the fight. But she believed even more strongly that true swordsmanship should transcend the limitations of the senses, reaching a state of perfect harmony between mind and sword.
"Hoo~"
Liang Lin took a deep breath, trying to calm her mind, and then slowly closed her eyes (even though they were already blindfolded).
As her mind focused, Liang Lin began to sense subtle changes in the surrounding air.
It seemed she could "see" the ripples and trajectories left by the tentacles in the air, and "hear" the subtle sounds they made as they moved.
At this moment, Liang Lin felt a sense of oneness with the entire world.
When Liang Lin opened her eyes again (though darkness still surrounded her), the confusion and exhaustion were gone.
Her longsword swung again. But this time, the swordplay was completely different—sharper, more precise, and more powerful.
Although she had temporarily stabilized the situation, Doris's offensive did not completely cease.
Doris also sensed Liang Lin's strength, becoming even more frantic and cunning, constantly changing her attack strategies and angles, trying to find a weakness.
"..."
Doris tried to find Liang Lin's weakness.
No magic power, not a monster, just an ordinary person... an ordinary person? Could an ordinary person do this? Is she really just an ordinary person with flesh and blood?
Doris began to doubt.
Crack!
Another tentacle was severed, writhing and twisting on the ground.
