V3: Chapter 15: Understanding Love

“Let’s see when we get home.”

Liang Di was a little nervous, gently stroking her lower abdomen.

“No need to call a doctor, Octaville can tell.”

The carriage bumped along the way.

Neither Liang Lin nor Liang Di spoke a word, both looking preoccupied.

But Hillary and Octaville were the complete opposite.

“Uh, Carol…”

Octaville was worried that Carol wouldn’t want a younger brother or sister, so she cautiously asked, “Carol, do you like a younger sibling?”

Carol, who was playing with Alice, nodded without hesitation upon hearing the question.

“Yes! Of course I like younger sibling!”

Hearing this, Octaville breathed a sigh of relief.

“Then, do you prefer a younger brother or a younger sister?” Octaville pulled Carol's hand, drawing the two little ones to her side.

This was just a casual remark, setting the stage for what was to come.

Carol looked at Octaville, tilting her head thoughtfully.

"I think I prefer a little sister. I want a sweet, soft little sister, preferably one who can call me 'Big Sis' as soon as she's born."

This was somewhat difficult for the unborn sister and the suspected pregnant Liang Di.

"Uh, so, if I told you that your mothers will bring a little sister for you in a few months, would you be happy?"

Octaville asked this cautiously, looking nervously at Carol, afraid the little one would be unhappy about it.

Upon hearing this, Carol immediately opened her little arms and cheered.

"Really? Auntie, you're not lying to me! Are my mothers really bringing me a little sister? Last time I asked Mama and Mommy, they wouldn't answer me, but they actually brought her over! I knew it, they love me the most!"

Carol looked full of enthusiasm, even rolling up her sleeves.

"When I become a Big Sister, I'm going to put my little sister to sleep every day, I'm going to tell her stories every day, yeah! I'll sleep on the outside, and she'll sleep on the inside, so she doesn't fall off the bed."

She was already imagining her wonderful life with her sister.

Octaville clicked her tongue twice.

"What's wrong with your mouth?"

Hilary gently patted Octaville's mouth. "If you have something to say, just tell the child. She's so big now, and so smart, she'll definitely understand what you mean."

"Sigh, I'm just afraid the little one won't be able to accept it... Having a little sister means taking away some of the love, and many children can't accept that."

Octaville sighed.

Carol, who was cheering, suddenly fell silent after hearing this.

Octaville frowned at Hilary, giving her a "see?" look.

She was about to comfort Carol, even prepared to provide emotional support and guidance throughout the journey.

But Carol spoke, interrupting her thoughts.

"Auntie, what you said isn't right."

Carol's words were firm and resolute.

"Although my sister will take some of the love from my mothers, once she's capable of loving, she'll also share some of her love with me. That will make up for the love my mothers gave me less of, and you could even say I have more love than I need."

Carol's smile was sweet.

"I think this is a very happy thing. I have the love of three people, three different kinds of love—my mothers' love, and my sister's love. Then I am the happiest person in the world."

Ah...

Octaville paused for two seconds.

"Pfft~"

Hilary laughed out loud.

"Really, Fu, you don't even understand life as well as a child. You were trying to comfort little Carol just now, weren't you? She doesn't need your comfort at all. My sisters have raised her very well."

Hilary tapped Octaville's head affectionately.

"Don't worry about it. What Carol said makes perfect sense, doesn't it, little Carol?"

"Yes!"

Carol nodded vigorously, then straightened her back, opened her arms, and patted her chest.

"I'm not the little child I used to be. I understand everything, Auntie, don't worry."

"Pfft~"

Octaville laughed too.

She had indeed overthought things.

Although Carol was at an age where she was naturally mischievous, Liang Lin and Liang Di had never relaxed their discipline of her. She really didn't have anything to worry about.

Octaville ruffled Carol's hair.

"You're so smart and sensible, I'm relieved."

The carriage arrived at the gates of the Langwendi mansion.

Four adults, leading two children, alighted from the carriage.

"Octaville."

Liang Di approached.

"After we go inside, can you check if I'm..."

Octaville raised her hand, stopping her from continuing.

"I understand, no need to say more. Let's go, let's go inside quickly, it's too cold outside, be careful not to catch a cold."

Back in her room, Octaville immediately pulled out several bottles of magic potions.

"Liang Di, drink this. Wait about five minutes, and you'll know the result."

"Okay."

Liang Di picked up the green potion in front of her, held the bottle to her lips, and drank it all in one gulp.

This scene made Liang Lin frown slightly. The potion looked disgusting, a deep green, as if it had been sitting for days. She wondered how Liang Di could drink it so readily.

"Isn't this bitter?" Liang Lin couldn't resist her curiosity and asked.

Liang Di shook her head, shaking the empty bottle in her hand.

"It's not bitter. It tastes sweet, and it's harmless. Liang Lin, if you're curious, I'll get you a bottle to try."

Liang Lin immediately shook her head vigorously.

"No, no, no, I won't drink it. I... I feel... well, I don't need it."

These five minutes of waiting were especially agonizing.

Carol stared at Liang Lin and Liang Di.

"So, which of you is pregnant?"

The little one still didn't understand which one was pregnant.

"Mama gave birth to me, so this time it should be Mommy, right? It's fair for each of you to have one, otherwise... otherwise I just feel... it's not fair!"

She's a bit of a perfectionist.

Liang Lin wasn't in the mood to tease her right now.
