V3: Chapter 42: A Warm Snowy Day

Liang Di glanced out the window.

The snowflakes initially fell sparsely, gently touching the glazed tile roof of the Langwendi mansion, making a soft, crisp sound. Then, they gradually became denser, weaving and swirling in the air, finally settling softly on every corner of the mansion.

In the mansion's courtyard, the meticulously trimmed shrubs and the artfully arranged flowerbeds were covered in a layer of white by the first snow.

"Hmm… let's put another layer of clothes on Philomena, and put her shoes on too. We'll just go for a walk in the back garden and come back quickly; if we stay too long, she'll catch a cold."

"Oh... great!"

Carol was so excited that she almost threw Philomena out of her arms.

"You wear more clothes too, Carol."

Liang Lin placed a small, thick, fluffy hat on Carol's head. Carol's small face, with the hat on, looked like a soft, adorable little animal.

"Okay!"

Carol hurriedly changed her clothes and rushed downstairs, calling to Liang Di and Liang Lin as she ran, "Mama! Mommy! Hurry! What if the snow stops?!"

This child is really anxious.

Liang Di and Liang Lin also changed into warm coats.

The family of four went downstairs.

As soon as they stepped outside, the snow intensified, and the scene inside the Langwendi mansion gradually became dreamlike.

In the swirling snow, the outline of the mansion became blurred and soft, and the whole world was gently enveloped in a pure white. The branches of the tall oak and sycamore trees were laden with heavy snow, and occasionally, a gust of wind would cause snowflakes to fall softly.

Inside the mansion's main hall, a warm fireplace burned brightly, keeping out the cold outside.

Through the large glass windows, the family of four could clearly see the snow scene outside. The snowflakes danced and swirled in the air, finally settling quietly on the window frames and under the eaves.

Inside the hall, Liang Lin and the others, dressed warmly, admired the rare snow scene.

"Wow~"

Carol's eyes sparkled as she pushed open the gates of the Langwendi mansion.

A snowflake landed on her nose, cool and refreshing.

Carol spun around in the snow, holding Philomena, her little face flushed, whether from excitement or the cold, it was hard to tell.

"I love snowy days!"

Carol lifted Philomena high in the air.

Philomena tilted her head, not smiling, just staring blankly.

"My little sister doesn't like to smile."

Carol pouted and pulled Philomena back into her arms.

The snow was falling heavier now.

Snowflakes danced and collided in the air, making a soft rustling sound.

The courtyards and corridors, thickly covered in snow, became Carol's favorite playground.

She wore a thick cotton coat and a fluffy hat, running and rolling around in the snow, her laughter echoing throughout the mansion.

"Carol! Don't fall! And don't throw Philomena out of your arms!"

Liang Lin ran up to Carol and grabbed her by the back of the collar.

"Don't roll around in the snow."

Liang Lin's face darkened, her expression as black as the bottom of a pot.

Carol, her neck gripped, finally stopped. The family walked through the snow, their feet crunching underfoot.

"Let's not stay outside too long, let's go back."

Liang Lin glanced at Carol's rosy cheeks, red from the cold, and touched them, finding them indeed icy cold.

"Let's go, Carol, let's go back."

But Carol looked at the swirling snow and was reluctant to go back. She truly loved the snow.

“Mommy, I want to stay outside a little longer with my sister,”

Carol pleaded.

“But…”

Liang Di glanced at the swirling snowflakes.

“The snow is getting heavier, it’ll get even colder. Look, the snow has all melted on you, your clothes will be soaking wet, and you’ll catch a cold when you go back.”

She tried to reason with the child.

But children are children, after all; how could they listen to reason?

So, Carol started throwing a tantrum.

However, she had barely uttered a sound when Liang Lin grabbed her by the back of the collar.

“You little brat, go back inside!”

Carol smacked her lips twice, looking at the aggressive Lianglin, and didn’t dare say another word. She sullenly shut her mouth, her cheeks puffed out, seemingly sulking.

“Little sister, from now on, from now on we two will team up to fight together!”

She whispered in Philomena's ear, badmouthing Liang Lin and Liang Di.

Philomena blinked, completely bewildered.

Carol was dragged by Liang Lin all the way back to the Langwendi mansion. Liang Lin tossed Carol onto the sofa, and the two sisters, along with Philomena, sank into the soft cushions.

“Ouch, don’t let Philomena get hurt.”

Liang Di craned her neck to look at the two sisters, and only relaxed when she saw they were alright.

Liang Lin hadn’t done it on purpose; she had simply forgotten she had a daughter.

“Tsk.”

Liang Lin slapped her head.

“My head…”

Carol remained sullen.

Liang Di sighed.

“Carol, we’ll have something delicious tonight. I’ll ask Bellica and the others to move the table to the window. We can enjoy the snow view while we eat, okay?”

Carol’s expression softened for a moment upon hearing this, but her little face remained tense.

“I’ll make you your favorite little cakes, and then…we’ll get a band over. Our whole family can enjoy the snow view, eat delicious food, and listen to a musical, how about that?”

Finally, Carol smiled.

“Thank you, Mommy!”

You could tell from a young age that this child was adaptable.

Night fell, and the Langwendi mansion was brightly lit.

The maids huffed and puffed as they moved the table to the window. Liang Lin, Liang Di, and Carol sat in their seats, while Bellica sat beside Carol, holding Philomena.

A dazzling array of delicacies and the enticing aroma of fine wines filled the air.

Before the food arrived, Carol gazed quietly at the snowy landscape outside, captivated by the pristine white world.

"So beautiful..."

She pressed herself against the windowpane, her warm breath creating a wisp of condensation. Seeing the condensation, Carol scribbled and drew on the glass, amusing herself.

Liang Lin watched Carol's self-entertaining antics and Philomena, held in Bellica's arms and drinking milk from a bottle. Finally, she turned her head to look at Liang Di beside her. Her gaze met Liang Di's, which was fixed on her.

"What are you doing? Why are you staring at me?"

Even as an old married couple, she still felt shy.
