V3: Chapter 54: Stimulants
The creature roared, and more tentacles emerged from its massive body, weaving together in the air to form an impenetrable net, attempting to trap Octaville.
Octaville reacted swiftly, summoning a transparent barrier of magic that enveloped her completely. The tentacles struck the barrier with deafening roars, yet they could not penetrate this seemingly thin but actually resilient defense.
The battle reached its climax, the struggle between Octaville and the monster intensifying.
Octaville, relying on her profound understanding of magic, constantly changed her tactics. At times, she used high-speed movement to confuse the shadowy monster, darting across the battlefield like lightning, making her difficult to track; at other times, she counterattacked with powerful, explosive magic, repelling the tentacles one by one, displaying astonishing combat prowess.
However, the shadowy monster was no pushover either. It seemed to predict Octaville's movements, reacting before she could attack each time. Occasionally, it even seized upon her weaknesses, launching fierce counterattacks that forced Octaville to be even more cautious.
This battle was no longer just a contest of strength and speed, but a battle of wits and courage.
"Wow, this is the first time I've seen the Tower Master fight for so long! That monster is really something," Gladys muttered to Laura from the window, completely absorbed in the spectacle, almost as if she were about to grab a bucket of popcorn.
This was probably similar to the mentality of enjoying a good show; after all, in such a tense and exciting battle, onlookers are often drawn in by the intense atmosphere, unable to resist witnessing the final outcome of this life-or-death struggle.
However, behind this was a deep trust in Octavillw.
"The Tower Master will definitely win,"
Laura said confidently.
This wasn't just blind optimism, but a deep-seated, unwavering trust in Octaville. She believed in Octaville's strength and wisdom, confident she could find a way out of any predicament.
However, fate always seemed to play tricks at crucial moments. She was immediately proven wrong.
In a fierce exchange, Octaville's battle with the shadowy monster reached its climax. She skillfully dodged the tentacles' attacks while searching for an opportunity to counterattack. However, in a split second, a tentacle struck her.
The immense force seemed to tear her apart, hurling her into the air. Time seemed to freeze, everything around her blurring. She only felt her body being propelled by a powerful and terrifying force, irresistibly thrown into the unknown heights.
In mid-air, Octaville struggled to stay conscious, enduring the pain and trying to regain her balance.
Finally, just as another tentacle attack was about to strike, Octaville landed steadily on the ground. She took a deep breath. This battle was far from over; she had to pull herself together and continue fighting this shadowy monster to the very end.
"Tsk."
She couldn't continue fighting blindly like this. She had to find an opening.
So, Octaville began to use more complex magic circles and incantations. She gripped her staff tightly, closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and began to chant intently. As she chanted, the light on her staff gradually intensified, as if absorbing all the surrounding light and condensing it into an unprecedentedly powerful force.
The light grew brighter and brighter, almost piercing the darkness and illuminating the entire battlefield. A calm expression appeared on Octaville's face; this was the crucial moment for her counterattack.
Finally, she took a deep breath and released all of this power. A dazzling light instantly illuminated the entire inn, as if sweeping away the darkness and evil.
Within the light, the monster's tentacles began to twist and struggle wildly, as if bound by some invisible force.
Octaville seized the opportunity to launch a series of attacks, each strike precisely hitting the monster's weak points.
As Octaville unleashed her powerful magic, the shadowy monster let out a series of agonizing screams. The cries were shrill and terrifying, like a call from the abyss, sending chills down one's spine. Simultaneously, its body began to disintegrate, its twisted tentacles and massive form vanishing like melting snow under the light.
Finally, the shadowy monster's body dissolved into a pool of foul-smelling slime, flowing onto the ground and emitting a suffocating stench. A humanoid form faintly emerged, revealing its original shadowy form—a twisted, hideous dark creature, its eyes flashing with resentment and rage, yet powerless against Octaville's power.
"Gulp..."
Two fruits fell from its arms.
Before Octaville could even breathe a sigh of relief, she saw the shadowy monster pick up a fruit from the ground and quickly stuff it into its mouth, Octaville unable to stop it in time.
Crack~
The stench grew stronger.
The tentacles' attacks became increasingly ferocious; it was like a runaway beast, wildly waving its tentacles in the air. The tentacles twisted and rolled like living snakes, each tracing eerie paths through the air like the lash of death, accompanied by a whistling wind, attempting to trap Octaville in an abyss of despair.
Octaville remained remarkably calm.
During one of the monster's fierce attacks, Octaville skillfully used spatial magic to vanish instantly among the tentacles, reappearing behind the monster. Seizing the opportunity, she unleashed an arrow of ice, aiming straight for the monster's core.
However, the monster seemed to possess unimaginable regenerative abilities; while the ice arrow briefly stunned it, it caused no real damage.
Enraged, the monster's tentacles lashed out even more frantically at Octaville, threatening to engulf the entire inn in the battle.
Gladys and Laura trembled inside the inn.
"It can't hurt us, can it?"
"It shouldn't, it shouldn't."
Octaville glanced at them.
Although she knew Gladys's abilities, she still had to be more cautious. She began using time magic to make her movements faster, in order to dodge the monster's attacks.
At the same time, she was also looking for an opportunity to counterattack. Each dodge was accompanied by a precise insight into the monster's weaknesses.
Soon, Octaville discovered a subtle pattern in the monster: whenever it launched its strongest attack, there was a brief energy gathering process.
