Chapter 115: Leon Li: Someone’s Targeting Me?
There was still a chance to beat Derek Su and Stella.
But only if he seized the track first and blocked them from the front.
If he stayed behind Derek Su and Stella, neither he nor Snowpeak stood a chance—the gap would only keep widening.
Something had clearly changed with Stella over the past half month. Leon Li didn’t know what had happened, nor was he sure whether Derek Su had swapped out Stella’s modules. All he knew was that with Stella’s current speed, Snowpeak could no longer latch onto her slipstream the way she used to. Stella didn’t even need to exert herself to leave them behind.
Stella’s cornering hadn’t dropped.
Her impact resistance hadn’t dropped either.
Snowpeak had just rammed into her rear, yet Stella’s tail showed no damage at all.
So was it endurance?
Stability?
Or… Boost Charge?
If it was one of those top-tier modules that sacrificed Boost Charge to enhance everything else, then the price would be outrageous.
Those modules were practically made for ordinary Mecha Girls without special abilities.
After all, without special skills, Boost Charge was meaningless—and modules like that were absurdly expensive.
At the same level, they cost five to ten times more than other modules of the same type.
Leon Li couldn’t think of any other explanation.
He could only assume Derek Su had installed such a premium module on Stella.
What he couldn’t figure out was where Derek Su had gotten that kind of money.
Had he spent the last two weeks pulling in sponsorships?
They were about to reach the very bottom of the Loren Dead Volcano.
Leon Li didn’t hesitate. He and Snowpeak continued using Spatial Jumps. This time, he precisely controlled Snowpeak to jump ahead of Derek Su and Stella. But jumps alone were no longer enough to open a decisive gap. The distance of the spatial frog jumps was getting shorter and shorter. The only thing he could rely on now was Snowpeak’s explosive acceleration after exiting space.
He successfully seized the racing line.
“Three uses left.”
Leon Li stared at Stella shrinking in the rearview mirror, but there was no relief in his heart.
His original plan had been simple: either use a single Spatial Jump at the Loren Volcano to open the gap, then secure victory with the remaining eight, or force Derek Su and Stella off the cliff at the Loren Vortex Circuit and make them retire.
Now, both plans had already been used.
Yet the outcome had turned into an unpredictable third scenario.
With only three Spatial Jumps left, he had no confidence of winning outright against Derek Su and Stella. All he could do was go all out and fight to the end.
...
Two Mecha Girls burst through the final speed checkpoint of the Loren Vortex, one after the other.
The violent wind whipped up by their frames made both speed detectors creak and groan.
After a short straight, they would enter the cylindrical tunnel that led out of the Loren Vortex and onto the open-air track beyond the Loren Dead Volcano.
By now, the Silverstone Advanced Race was already more than one-third complete.
“Master, those two rotten eggs used that stinky skill again to jump ahead of us!”
Stella puffed out her cheeks, clearly upset.
Derek Su, on the other hand, couldn’t have cared less. Back in the Loren Grand Vortex, Leon Li and Snowpeak had already gone all out, burning through six Spatial Jumps. It was obvious that Snowpeak was struggling to shake them now. With the opponent’s trump cards already exhausted and still unable to deal with them, the ending was practically written.
“Let them pass,” he said casually, completely unfazed. “They can overtake us for a moment, but not forever. A short overtake is nothing compared to a long one. Small overtakes are fine for fun—force it too hard, and you’ll wipe out.”
Stella: “???”
What kind of spell was Master chanting?
She couldn’t understand a word of it.
As they talked, Stella followed Snowpeak into the cylindrical tunnel.
Snowpeak’s burst acceleration had ended, and the distance between them was steadily shrinking. Overtaking was only a matter of time.
But the moment the two Mecha Girls entered the tunnel, a cluster of slow-moving cars appeared ahead, completely clogging the track.
This kind of situation was enough to spike blood pressure on a highway—on a rally track, it was even worse.
Leon Li and Snowpeak, running ahead of Derek Su and Stella, immediately frowned.
With a 30-second staggered start, it was almost impossible for two cars to be crawling along side by side like this. Even when he and Derek Su were fighting fiercely, their Mecha Girls were still locked in a chase formation, front and back. The only explanation was that these drivers were deliberately blocking the road.
“Targeting me?” Leon Li’s eyes flashed coldly. “Tired of living?”
He had nothing to say to drivers who deliberately intercepted others on the track.
Judging from the paint jobs, they belonged to some obscure no-name club. Where they got the guts was beyond him.
Anyone planning a targeted move should have done their homework. His race history clearly showcased Snowpeak’s strengths—high impact resistance and solid speed. Yet these people still dared to use such low-grade tricks.
“Master, please give the order!”
Snowpeak was already closing in on the slow-moving pack.
Leon Li spoke coldly. “Ram through them.”
Boom—!
He slammed the throttle to the floor.
Snowpeak charged forward like a howling wolf plunging into a sheep pen. The line of blocking drivers collapsed instantly, smashed apart and sent spinning in all directions. Even so, Leon Li and Snowpeak stayed cautious—the overturned Mecha Girls still ended up blocking the road.
If Derek Su and Stella wanted to pass, they’d have to ram through as well.
But a moving Mecha Girl and a stalled one lying on the track were two very different things.
The latter was far harder to shove aside.
“What’s going on? Leon Li and Snowpeak got targeted too?”
Derek Su froze for a split second, then reacted instantly, dodging a Mecha Girl that had been flipped over and was still sliding upside down along the track.
“Master, is there a chance…” Stella frowned, her expression serious as she spoke earnestly, “that we’re actually the ones being targeted? Leon Li and Snowpeak just happened to run into it and cleared the way for us.”
“Hiss—when you put it that way, you might actually be right!”
Derek Su scratched his head, recalling Purple Lightning’s warning. “That really is possible. Though Leon Li isn’t exactly innocent either.”
Looking at the Mecha Girls sprawled all over the tunnel, it was obvious Leon Li had turned the place into an obstacle course.
But an obstacle course like this posed little challenge for Derek Su.
He didn’t even need to use wall-clinging. A quick left-right flick of the controls was enough to weave through.
When the gaps were too tight, he simply drove Stella straight into them.
The collisions definitely slowed them down, but it wasn’t a big deal.
After all, wall-climbing would have required slowing down too.
...
Leon Li glanced at the rearview mirror and finally let out a breath.
He never thought the obstacles would truly stop Derek Su, but this move had at least widened the gap a little, giving Snowpeak some breathing room.
For the Mecha Girls coming after them, however, it was far less forgiving.
Unconscious Mecha Girls lay sprawled across the track—no one could just plow straight through that.
Host Kool Kenny immediately contacted race control to request a suspension, prioritizing the removal of injured Mecha Girls and drivers from the tunnel.
As for penalties?
There were none. If you chose to block others, you had to be prepared to pay the price.
...
Inside Stella’s cockpit, Derek Su watched Snowpeak’s taillights with a faint grin.
“Kid, bring out whatever tricks you’ve got left…”
“And if you’re out of moves, this old man’s about to checkmate you.”
