Chapter 100: Only I Can Defeat You
Miyamoto Tokima was the first to ask Daiki Aomine out.
After receiving Miyamoto Tokima’s message, Daiki Aomine quickly got dressed and rushed downstairs.
The moment he saw Miyamoto Tokima and Satsuki Momoi, a smile appeared on his face.
“Yo, Tokima, what’s up so early in the morning?”
Miyamoto Tokima forced a smile and said, “Let’s talk while we walk.”
Daiki Aomine sensed that something was off about Miyamoto Tokima’s mood. He nodded and followed him as they wandered along the street.
The three of them walked in silence for a while. Then Miyamoto Tokima suddenly broke it.
“Aomine, I might be leaving.”
Daiki Aomine didn’t catch the implication right away.
“Leaving? Then just come back when school starts again.”
Miyamoto Tokima stopped walking and didn’t say anything.
Only then did Daiki Aomine realize something was wrong.
“You… you mean…”
Miyamoto Tokima nodded.
“I’m going to the United States. I probably won’t be back until high school.”
Daiki Aomine’s expression froze, disbelief written all over his face.
“Tokima… today isn’t April Fools’, right? You’re joking, aren’t you?”
Miyamoto Tokima shook his head.
“I’m not joking.”
Daiki Aomine seemed unable to accept it. He anxiously spun around in place, waving his arms as he spoke.
“But Tokima, we just won the championship! We just—”
Miyamoto Tokima suddenly cut him off.
“Aomine, let’s play a one-on-one.”
Daiki Aomine looked at Miyamoto Tokima with panic in his eyes. Knowing that Tokima’s departure was inevitable, he clenched his fists and, for the first time, refused outright.
“No!
A farewell one-on-one? I’d rather not play at all!”
Miyamoto Tokima shook his head.
“Aomine, this one-on-one has to happen.”
Daiki Aomine shook his head firmly.
“No way! I won’t play you!”
Satsuki Momoi looked at the two of them with pain in her eyes and spoke up softly.
“Aomine, just play one game with Tokima.”
Ever since she and Miyamoto Tokima had confirmed their relationship, Satsuki Momoi had already made up her mind: no matter where Tokima went or what he did, she would stand firmly by his side.
After she spoke, Daiki Aomine looked at her hesitantly.
“Momoi… does that mean you…”
Satsuki Momoi nodded.
“Yeah. I’m going to the United States with Tokima.”
Daiki Aomine felt as if he’d been struck by lightning. He stood there in a daze, muttering in disbelief.
“You… you’re both leaving…
Then… then what about my Maki photos…”
Satsuki Momoi froze for a split second. Her sadness instantly turned into fury.
“Aomine!!!”
Daiki Aomine snapped back to his senses.
“W–wait, wait! I misspoke, I misspoke! Anyway, I’m still not doing a farewell one-on-one!”
Miyamoto Tokima suddenly pulled out his phone and started playing a recording.
From the phone came Daiki Aomine’s voice, repeatedly exposing his own embarrassing secrets.
Daiki Aomine instantly stiffened.
Satsuki Momoi listened in surprise, then walked over with interest.
“Tokima, when did you record this? Send me a copy.”
Daiki Aomine looked at the two whispering together in despair, a bleak song playing in his heart.
Even so, he still refused.
“Even if you have recordings, I won’t agree! Today, even if I die right here, I’m not playing this one-on-one!”
“For the next two years, I’ll have my people help you get Maki photoshoots. All of your junior high Maki photos are on me.”
“…How many rounds?”
..............
Miyamoto Tokima and Daiki Aomine arrived at a deserted outdoor court nearby, preparing for their one-on-one.
Daiki Aomine confirmed again beforehand,
“Tokima, two years’ worth of photos, right?”
Miyamoto Tokima nodded helplessly.
“Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it.”
Only then did Daiki Aomine nod, his face full of disappointment.
“I never thought… we’d just win the championship, and you’d be leaving, Tokima.”
Miyamoto Tokima shook his head just as helplessly.
“It can’t be helped. Alright, let’s start.”
Daiki Aomine nodded and prepared to attack.
Miyamoto Tokima looked at him and said,
“Aomine, there’s something I want to ask you.”
Daiki Aomine froze, holding the basketball.
“What is it?”
Miyamoto Tokima didn’t continue speaking. Instead, he lowered his stance and began defending.
Suddenly!
An overwhelming, unimaginable pressure erupted from Miyamoto Tokima’s body, instantly sweeping over Daiki Aomine.
It was like a mountain crashing down, like a raging tide—unstoppable and terrifying.
Daiki Aomine’s face changed drastically, cold sweat pouring down his forehead.
It felt as if a ferocious beast were locking onto him. His body went rigid, his limbs frozen in place, unable to move at all.
That horrifying presence filled him with fear. His throat was so dry he could barely speak.
“Th–this… what is this…”
..............
Moments later, Daiki Aomine collapsed onto the ground, gasping for air.
Miyamoto Tokima stood over him, his presence utterly oppressive.
Satsuki Momoi stared at the scene in shock.
‘Is this Tokima’s true strength…?’
Miyamoto Tokima pulled Daiki Aomine back to his feet and spoke slowly.
“I want you to remember this one-on-one. Then work hard to catch up to me.
You have to remember—
the only one who can defeat you is me.”
After saying that, Miyamoto Tokima turned and left with Satsuki Momoi, leaving Daiki Aomine standing there in a daze.
‘The only one who can defeat me… is you…?’
...
“Tokima, was that really your full strength?”
Miyamoto Tokima gently rubbed Satsuki Momoi’s head.
“More or less.”
Satsuki Momoi narrowed her eyes in enjoyment and asked softly,
“So, who are we looking for next?”
“Midorima.”
“Okay.”
Shintaro Midorima was watching the morning fortune-telling show when the program announced:
“Aries has the best luck today. Congratulations—no problems at all.
Cancer has the worst luck. Better behave yourselves today.”
Shintaro Midorima pushed up his glasses, thinking to himself,
“Cancer has the worst luck?”
Ring ring ring!
Suddenly, his phone rang. Shintaro Midorima picked it up, puzzled, to see who was calling.
After seeing the caller ID, he hesitated briefly, then answered.
“Hello, Tokima.”
