Chapter 135: The Bad Kids’ Legion?

Shogo Haizaki knelt on the ground, confessing in terror.

Miyamoto Hiroshi smiled faintly, allowing him to remain there.

After all, this was the man who had elbowed his son. Letting him kneel for a while would make sure the lesson stuck.

Shogo Haizaki stayed motionless on his knees. Miyamoto Hiroshi said nothing, calmly sipping his tea.

The atmosphere gradually fell into silence. Shogo Haizaki didn’t dare move an inch, kneeling there as he waited for Miyamoto Hiroshi to speak, his body beginning to tremble uncontrollably.

Nearly five minutes passed. After finishing the tea in his cup, Miyamoto Hiroshi set it down and finally spoke.

“Do you know what you did wrong?”

Shogo Haizaki nodded frantically, his voice shaking.

“I do… I know I was wrong!”

Miyamoto Hiroshi replied calmly.

“Since you know, you can stand up.”

Shogo Haizaki hurried to his feet. After kneeling for so long, his legs shook violently as he stood.

Once he steadied himself, he noticed Miyamoto Hiroshi’s teacup was empty.

With a powerful instinct for self-preservation, he quickly grabbed the teapot beside him and poured more tea.

Miyamoto Hiroshi didn’t stop him. Only after the tea was poured did he lift the cup and take a sip.

“You’ve got some sense.”

Shogo Haizaki bowed repeatedly, his face filled with desperation to survive.

After another sip, Miyamoto Hiroshi spoke again.

“In that case, I’ll give you a chance. A chance to make up for your mistake.”

Shogo Haizaki didn’t dare refuse and immediately replied,

“Thank you… thank you so much…”

Miyamoto Hiroshi took out a thick stack of contracts from the drawer and handed them over.

“Sign them.”

Shogo Haizaki swallowed hard. He was terrified—terrified that this might be a contract selling himself completely. But the situation left him no room to hesitate. He took the contracts and signed them.

Only after that did Miyamoto Hiroshi continue.

“Since you’ve signed, you’d better follow everything written in there.”

Cold sweat streamed down Shogo Haizaki’s forehead. He gripped the contract tightly, not daring to look at it for a long time.

“Go on. Read it. Aren’t you curious what kind of contract you signed?”

Only then did Shogo Haizaki shakily look through the contract.

After a long while, he finished reading.

The fear on his face turned into sheer shock.

It really was a contract selling his services—but it was nothing like the usual kind.

The benefits were simply too good.

Just the monthly salary alone exceeded what most people in Japan earned—nearly 650,000 Japanese yen (roughly 4,300 US dollars).

And it would continue to increase over time.

As for his obligations, there was only one clause.

Unconditionally accept Miyamoto Tokima’s orders and clear away any threats or dangers around him.

Put simply, it was a security contract—just with far better pay and a very different scope of work.

Shogo Haizaki stared at the contract in disbelief, muttering,

“Th-this… is this real? …You’re not blaming me?”

Miyamoto Hiroshi smiled faintly.

“I’m a businessman. But I’m also a father.”

Shogo Haizaki immediately understood his role: to assist Miyamoto Tokima.

From that day on, Shogo Haizaki officially became one of the “swords” in Miyamoto Tokima’s hands…

..........

After hearing all this, Miyamoto Tokima fell silent, deep in thought.

“So that’s how it was. No wonder Shogo Haizaki became so obedient after that day… Dad stepped in.”

He hadn’t expected his father to have done so much for him behind the scenes.

It turned out his father had already planned for his future—and even chosen his teammates.

That explained everything. In the original story, Shogo Haizaki was notoriously defiant. Even after being beaten half to death, he would still go looking for trouble.

Yet after his father’s mix of pressure and generosity, Shogo Haizaki had completely changed.

Still, Miyamoto Tokima raised another question.

“You said you’re just one of the ‘swords’ my dad prepared for me. Do you know who the others are?”

Shogo Haizaki glanced to the side and nodded.

“I do. You probably already have an answer in mind, right, Tokima-san?”

Miyamoto Tokima raised an eyebrow slightly. He did have a guess, though he hesitated before saying it.

“Makoto Hanamiya?”

Shogo Haizaki smiled in approval.

“As expected of Tokima-san. You got it right. The other ‘swords’ are Makoto Hanamiya and Kentaro Seto.”

Shuzo Nijimura looked stunned, doubt creeping into his voice.

“Makoto Hanamiya? After all the nasty things he’s done, he actually…?”

Before he could finish, Shogo Haizaki cut him off.

“No. Makoto Hanamiya has changed. Ever since he met President Tokima, he completely turned over a new leaf. He hasn’t used a single dirty move on the court since.”

Shuzo Nijimura began to doubt his own ears.

He never would have imagined that Makoto Hanamiya, infamous for his dirty play, could truly change.

Miyamoto Tokima pinched the bridge of his nose, suddenly feeling like things were moving a little too fast.

He started recalling his past experiences.

Whether it was Nash Gold or Shogo Haizaki and the others, they were all villains in the original story—some of them downright hateful.

And yet, all of them had ended up gathered under him.

What was this supposed to be? A bad kids’ legion?

Miyamoto Tokima calmed himself and asked,

“Mr. Hayashi, tell me—what school did my dad enroll us in?”

While driving, Hayashi replied respectfully,

“Sir, the school your father enrolled you in is Kirisaki Daiichi.”

Miyamoto Tokima’s heart sank completely.

Kirisaki Daiichi—wasn’t that the team Makoto Hanamiya belonged to in the original story?

Under Makoto Hanamiya’s leadership, that team had been infamous for dirty tricks, practically a public enemy on the court.

But with Miyamoto Hiroshi’s intervention, Kirisaki Daiichi had undergone a complete transformation. Not a single player relied on underhanded tactics anymore.

Thinking this through, Miyamoto Tokima finally let out a sigh of relief. If Makoto Hanamiya and Kentaro Seto really had changed…

Then the school his father chose for him was undeniably strong.

Point guard: Makoto Hanamiya.
Shooting guard: Miyamoto Tokima.
Small forward: Shogo Haizaki.
Power forward: Shuzo Nijimura.
Center: Kentaro Seto.

The only weak link was Kentaro Seto. But with his high IQ, if properly developed, couldn’t he become an excellent player as well?

Shuzo Nijimura leaned back and sighed,

“Who would’ve thought I’d end up being teammates with Makoto Hanamiya in high school?”
