Chapter 104

“Well then, I suppose it’s time we rescued Scarlet. We’ve kept her waiting long enough.”

“Yes, we really did take our time, didn’t we?”

“…So you were aware. Thank goodness. I was starting to worry you’d actually forgotten.”

Aqua muttered beside me. She's more of a worrier than I thought. Come on, there’s no way I’d forget… probably.

“But the problem is how to do it. If we try to destroy the crystal by force, we could endanger Scarlet.”

“That’s true. But then what do we do? We don’t have that much time, do we?”

“Should I try cutting off the Abyss’s magic supply with sanctuary magic?”

I offered a suggestion. Sanctuary magic should work. And now that I’ve become a Deep Demon, it’s a simple task.

“No, rather than forcing a shutdown, I’d prefer you do what you did with Aqua and the others—convert the Abyss’s magic into Scarlet’s own. Yuuka, can you handle that?”

“Yes, I believe I can.”

“Everyone else, prepare for combat.”

“Wait, hold on—what exactly are you planning to do?”

“Scarlet is on the verge of awakening as a Supreme Demon. Forcing her out now could put her life in danger. So instead, wouldn’t it be safer to let her awaken and then rescue her afterward?”

Albert laid out the plan as if it were the most natural thing in the world—but it was completely insane.

“W-We’re really going through with this…?”

“This is the quickest way.”

“No, I mean… Minato, say something, will you?”

Aqua turned to Lord Minato for support.

“Hm. If Al has decided, then I’ll follow him.”

“Why are you going along with this?! Cecilia, stop him!”

“Minato’s words are my words, you know?”

“Damn it! I’m the idiot for even thinking I could count on you!”

Aqua groaned, clutching her head in frustration. The inseparable couple left her completely exasperated. Watching this, Yuuri gave her a teasing grin.

“Oh, come on, what’s the harm? Looks like fun. I didn’t get to finish that fight with the gorilla over there, and I’m itching for something more.”

“Don’t cheerfully say that! We’re about to fight a Demon God! Could you at least pretend to be nervous?!”

“Also, aren’t you curious how much Albert and Yuuka have changed? I’m really damn curious.”

“…Well, I am curious, too, but…”

Aqua, for all her grumbling, was surprisingly responsible. Or maybe she was just easily persuaded. You could even say she was kind of—

“Yuuka? You’re not thinking something weird, are you?”

“Ha ha ha! No idea what you mean!

“Why are you suddenly talking like a robot? Yukari, what about you?”

“I’m also curious about how Albert and Yuuka have changed.”

“Aaargh! Fine! Whatever! I’ll go all in!”

Yukari, who’d apparently gotten hungry, responded while chomping on a bone-in piece of meat she pulled out from who-knows-where. And it looked like Aqua had finally come to terms with things.

“Alright, Yuuka, ready?”

“Anytime.”

“Then, let’s begin.”

With Albert’s signal, everyone nodded in unison. I stepped forward first.

“Sanctuary—Deploy.”

I enveloped Lady Scarlet in sanctuary magic. Now that I’d become a Deep Demon, the spell’s precision had increased significantly.

Let’s see… will this bring salvation or disaster?
