Chapter 106

"Let’s begin with a warm-up. Take this—my magic."

Magical energy gathered in Flamme’s right hand, forming multiple orbs of light each about the size of a marble. Though small in appearance, the sheer density of magic in each orb was anything but trivial.

A direct hit would definitely not end well. Just in case, I cast Sanctuary Magic on everyone, giving them a basic magical armor. At the very least, no one should die instantly.

"Incoming! Yuuka!"

"Leave it to me!"

Before Lord Albert’s warning had even finished, I strengthened the Sanctuary Magic. In sync with that, the orbs shot out from Flamme’s right hand.

They struck the barrier faster than sound itself, releasing a sharp, high-pitched screech upon impact. A beat later, the sonic booms and shockwaves followed, tearing through the air. Each strike carried the destructive power of a dragon, reshaping the terrain of the Abyssal land beneath us.

"Whoa, damn. That’s insane firepower."

"You're laughing? Without Yuuka and the others, we’d be dead by now."

Yuri muttered with a mix of exasperation and amusement, manipulating the wind. As if gravity meant nothing, she floated up gracefully and sent a barrage of wind blades slicing toward Flamme. As she did, Aqua fired off icy spears that formed around Flamme, launching them in tandem with Yuri’s attack. But—

"Too soft. Far too soft!"

"No good, huh."

"Didn’t expect it to work anyway."

With a roar, Flamme blew away Yuri and Aqua’s attacks entirely. The two showed little surprise, as though they’d anticipated their attacks wouldn’t break through.

While they occupied Flamme, Yukari closed the distance and launched into melee. In her hands was a tomoe-shaped naginata with a sharply curved blade—her weapon of choice.

She attacked with a fluid flurry of strikes: slashing downward, sweeping sideways, each motion blending seamlessly into the next as she engaged Flamme in close quarters. Though unarmed, Flamme handled hand-to-hand combat with ease, overpowering Yukari. It looked like Yukari was being pushed back, but her expression showed no panic. She focused on dodging and redirecting attacks, countering whenever the opportunity arose.

Next to move were the other Deep Demons—Lady Cecilia and Minato. As Yukari retreated, Lady Cecilia launched a barrage of blue flame spears, while Minato froze Flamme’s lower body from within and summoned chains of ice from the ground to bind her joints.

"Grgh…! So Albert and Yuuka aren’t the only Deep Demons here…!"

Even Flamme couldn’t come out of that unscathed. She threw up a barrier in haste, but several of Cecilia’s spears had already left burning wounds across her body. She struggled to break the chains, but they didn’t budge.

Cecilia and Minato alternated their roles, coordinating seamlessly. Cecilia sealed Flamme’s limbs with a swirling vortex of fire while Minato summoned massive ice blocks above her and dropped them down with crushing force. Against an ordinary opponent, that would’ve been fatal—but Flamme survived, battered and bruised. Her regenerative power seemed formidable too, as her wounds began to close almost immediately. And through it all, Flamme grinned with genuine delight.

"Magnificent, truly magnificent! So this is the Deep Demons!"

"Our assault isn’t over yet!"

Albert unleashed a lance of lightning, striking Flamme dead-on with a crack of thunder. In unison, he called down lightning from above to follow up the strike.

"Grraahh! So Albert commands lightning! Excellent! Show me more! Let me see it all!"

Even as her body sizzled with electricity, Flamme's grin only widened. It was clear now—being called a battle maniac wasn’t just hearsay.

"With this much power… and such coordination. It seems I was the one being disrespectful, holding back."

"Now then—"

"Let’s fight with everything we’ve got!"

Flamme’s aura surged once more. This was it—the real battle was just beginning.
