Chapter 56

"…Despite all the whining earlier, once she steels her resolve, there’s no hesitation in her actions. To think she could hold her own against a Black Dragon like this…"

Just moments ago, Yuka had been sobbing like a child—but now she stood unwavering, her spear (forged from demonic beast materials) poised against the Black Dragon. Her skill was on par with the dragon, perhaps even slightly superior. Against a Black Dragon, no less, one of the pinnacle dragonkin.

I’d initially planned to exponentially increase the number of dragons as punishment for failure (but scrapped the idea when I imagined her crying again). For now, slaying one was the goal—

"I hadn’t realized she’d grown this strong."

Honestly, I’d expected a brutal struggle. Not fatal, but grueling. Yet here she was, exceeding all predictions.

"Astounding. Her growth rate isn’t just fast—it’s unnatural."

Likely a product of her personality.

Teach her something, and she’d absorb it entirely, then refine it to suit her style. If needed, she’d dismantle everything she knew and rebuild from scratch.

Easier said than done—yet Yuka did it effortlessly.

"Is it innate talent, relentless effort, or both?"

Her adaptability is exceptional. Even back when she transitioned from her corporate life to managing the manor, she showed little distress. Sure, she gawked at otherworldly flora and unfamiliar rules, but she bonded with the staff and mastered her duties almost playfully.

"Which means… that uncle and boss of hers were nothing but shackles."

After sifting through her memories, I’d concluded: Those two were pure hindrances. Useless. Worse than useless. Eradicating them was the right call. Left alive, they’d only have stunted her growth.

Back to the battlefield. Yuuka and the Black Dragon were reaching the climax. Her spear pierced between its scales, blood gushing. As the enraged dragon swung its foreleg, she used it as a foothold, flipping midair to deliver a spinning kick to its snout—sending the beast reeling.

"It’s over."

Right on cue, her lightning magic erupted, and the dragon collapsed in a smoldering heap. A confirming stab of her spear ensured its death.

"WOOO!! YEAH-HA!!"

She celebrated with a bizarre war cry. I side-eyed her, unimpressed.

"If it’d end this quickly, I should’ve added penalties after all."

Total time: five minutes. Well under the limit. And judging by her energy, she could’ve fought harder. Maybe I’ll throw the Dimensional Dragon at her next—after a short break.

Fufu. I can’t wait to see how far she’ll go.
