Chapter 63

A Certain Place in the Demon Realm – A Quiet Residential District

“So this is the Supreme Demon Cult’s branch? Looks like… a slightly oversized house.”

“Pretty much. Anything flashier would attract attention. They built it to blend in.”

“And there are hundreds of people inside?”

“Most likely using spatial magic to expand the interior.”

“Makes sense. Shall we head in?”

“Yeah. Worst case, Sis and the others are on standby. Let’s end this fast.”

Albert and I pushed the door open. Just as we thought—the inside was far bigger than it looked from the outside.

As we moved through the hallway, I felt countless eyes on us. None of them friendly.

“A hundred… maybe two hundred? That’s within expectations. You know what to do, Yuka.”

“Of course. Leave it to me.”

“Well, well. Unexpected guests—and from the Bergand bloodline, no less. Come to offer yourselves up as sacrifices?”

A burly man stepped forward, probably the branch leader. Mid-40s, if I had to guess. Albert scoffed.

“Hah! Don’t flatter yourself. We’re here to wipe you out.”

“I figured. But you’ll be the ones getting wiped out! Get them!”

At his command, the cultists rushed in with swords and spears. Predictable. That just made things easier.

“Yuka!”

“On it! Luca!”

“Kyuu!”

From my shoulder, Luca’s eyes flashed with an eerie glow as she let out a cry. Instantly, the cultists froze. Their eyes glazed over, cheeks flushed, drool slipping from their mouths. They swayed, then collapsed like puppets with cut strings.

Perfect. It worked.

“Wha—!? What did you do!?”

“Why don’t you see for yourself? Everyone, seize that man.”

""""""At your command.""""""

“W-What!? You fools—stop! Don’t touch—GYAAAAHHH!!”

The cultists turned on their leader like drunken attackers—clumsy but relentless, without hesitation or mercy.

“Hmph. First field test, and it worked like a charm.”

“Sure did~! I didn’t think it’d be this effective.”

Luca’s Charm ability had temporarily hijacked their minds. Simple, really.

“I didn’t know Charm worked on demons too.”

“You’re stronger than most demons now, Yuka. Even I feel its effects a little. For lesser ones, it’s hopeless.”

“Ahaha! My bad about that time, then~”

“Tch. It’s not funny. I nearly attacked you.”

“I wish you had. But maybe next time~”

“You insatiable little—”

“No point pretending anymore. I’m an open pervert when it comes to you, Lord Albert.”

“You’re just admitting it!?”

“Ufufu… Oh? Looks like they’re finishing up.”

“Huh. That was fast.”

(Training with Charm had been… intense. I’d seen a whole new side of Albert. Turns out he’s not as stoic as he looks—he’s very passionate. Ufufu…)

Snapping back to the moment, I saw the cult leader beaten to a pulp—swollen face, bleeding nose, tears and drool streaming as he was pinned to the floor.

A bit much. I’d need to fine-tune Charm’s intensity.

The goal was efficiency, not overkill. That’s why I’d gone with non-lethal control. A handy ability, but hard to balance. Natural resistance still messed with it—at least in those who were still sane.

“Good work. Keep holding him like that.”

"""""Yes, Master."""""

“So. How does it feel? Having your drugged puppets turned against you?”

“Y-You bastard…!”

“Hah. Pathetic. Kidnapping, imprisonment, brainwashing with banned drugs—you really went all out. So here are your options: surrender and face execution… or die here. Your call.”
