Chapter 81

First, we discussed and decided to crush Zeren’s branch, Aqua’s replacement. When I asked what kind of person he was, the three of them responded:

"Trash bastard."

"Hmm… an enemy of women, I guess?"

"Even as a fellow man, he’s scum."

…I’m even more confused now. When I asked Lord Albert for help, he explained:

"Hmm… I wouldn’t want Yuuka near him…"

"What do you mean?"

"In a word, he’s a petty villain. He preys on the weak and sucks up to the strong. But his pride is ridiculously high—if you look down on him, he flies into a rage. Harassing people he dislikes and spreading lies to ruin them is just a daily routine. He’ll throw his own subordinates under the bus to save himself while hiding in safety. Yeah, he’s a real piece of work."

"The epitome of a small-time loser."

A stereotypical petty villain like this actually exists? …Well, I guess he does. He reminds me of my uncle and my old boss. Ugh, just knowing someone like him is exhausting.

"By the way, what Mina and the others are referring to is that Zeren’s what you’d call a ‘sleazebag.’ He knocks women up, then blames them—‘It’s not my fault, you’re the one who got pregnant’—and runs away. We’ve confirmed over a dozen victims, but there are probably more who stayed silent."

"Men are the worst."

Well, I used to be a man, but that’s beside the point.

"Still, he’s got skills. The gap between him and Mina is like heaven and earth, but your average demon wouldn’t stand a chance."

So he’s got power, just a garbage personality. Great.

"By the way, there’s something I’ve been wondering about."

"What is it?"

"That… thing?"

"Ah, that’s Zeren."

Near the branch entrance was a mysterious lump of flesh covered in tattered cloth. Apparently, that was Zeren. Since no one else reacted, I started worrying if only I could see it. It’s been about a month since I became an Archdemon, right? If you include Hollow Garden, it’s been over a year, but I’ve never been good with ghost-types. I mean, physical attacks don’t work! I don’t know how to fight them! And since I haven’t learned purification magic yet, handling this alone would be tough.

The Zeren-flesh-lump was wriggling around, absolutely shredding my SAN value. Why’s it moving? Is it alive?

"Most likely, some woman killed him in a fit of passion. Or maybe her lover or husband did."

Aqua answered. Wow, what an I○kei.

"So he’s dead?"

"He’s under an immortality curse, so not quite."

"Let’s burn him now."

"Freezing him works too."

Lady Cecelia and Lord Minato suggested mercilessly.

"‘Bind.’"

Lord Albert’s magical chains wrapped around the squirming flesh lump, restraining it.

"Well then, let’s kill him until he dies."

"Then, if I may, I’ll take the first strike."

Yukari stepped forward, cracking her knuckles. Why does she look so fired up?

"Haaah—"

She took a deep breath—

"ORAaaa!!!"

—and punched the meat lump with all her might.
