Chapter 85
"I’ll ask again. Why the hell are you here…?"
"Told ya already, didn’t I? Came to pick up my wife, Yuuka, of course."
"Yuuka is my wife! Not yours!"
"C’mon, what’s the big deal? Hand her over. I’ll treat her right."
"Like! Hell! I! Will!! Keep spouting that crap, and I’ll reduce you to charcoal!!"
"Oho? Wanna throw down? Fine by me—I’ll take you on! Bring it!"
"Yuuka, you’re popular!"
"I only just found out myself. Though it’s just Lord Albert and Yuri, really…"
As Lord Albert and Yuri began brawling, Rigur-san watched me with admiration.
How did it come to this? Let’s retrace.
Breakfast had just ended, and I was assisting Lord Albert with his duties when a gust of wind swept through the room—
"Yo, Yuuka. Came to see ya."
Yuri had appeared.
Lord Albert and the mansion’s familiars immediately shifted into combat stances, but Yuri ignored the tension entirely.
"Relax, will ya? I quit the Supreme Demon Cult. Hell, I wrecked my own branch on the way out. So now I’m a free man. Came to take Yuuka home."
"……………Hah?"
He dropped this bombshell with infuriating nonchalance.
We relocated to the plains, ready for battle at any moment.
And now, back to the present. I stared blankly as the silver-haired pretty boy and the green-haired handsome man traded blows.
"Hey, hey, Yuuka! I made these cookies! How’re they? Good?"
"Munch munch… Delicious. They’re shop-quality."
"Yes! I made ’em for Lady Cecillia, and Lord Minato! I’m so glad you like ’em!"
Rigur-san cheered, practically bouncing. For some reason, this adorable crossdressing boy (?) had taken a liking to me. Did I do something? Our first meeting was… not my finest moment.
"Ah! Master! Lady Cecilia! I made cookies! Try ’em, try ’em!"
"Damn, these are good! As expected of Rigur!"
"So tasty! That’s our Rigur-chan!"
"Ehehe…"
Rigur-san beamed as Minato and Cecillia ruffled his hair, radiating pure joy. It’d be heartwarming—if not for the brawl raging nearby.
"Hah… hah… My win…!"
"Tch… You got me…!"
It was over. Lord Albert stood victorious, breathing heavily, while Yuri lay flat on his back. Both were battered—it’d been a close fight. But setting that aside, I had a question.
"Lord Minato, Lady Cecillia, welcome back. How was the branch?"
"Yeah. Just like Yuri said. His branch was completely annihilated. No survivors among the cultists."
"Totally collapsed. Just a pile of rubble now."
"I see. Thank you for verifying."
"Don’t mention it. We were curious too."
"Mhm. We knew he wasn’t lying, but it was hard to believe."
After thanking them, I turned back to Lord Albert and Yuri.
"Goddammit~. Albert, you’re not half bad."
"Your praise means nothing. But you held your own."
"Ha! ’Course I did—I’m strong! …Even if I lost to you."
"I’ll acknowledge your strength. But I was simply stronger."
"Next time, I won’t lose."
"Looking forward to it."
They shook hands. Apparently, a fiery bromance had sparked.
"Anyway, there’s a reason I came. One, to take Yuuka. Two, to warn you guys."
"A warning? About what?"
"Yeah. It’s this—"
"The Supreme Demon ‘Crimson Clan’? It’s gonna revive real soon."
