Chapter 86
"What kind of Supreme Demon is the 'Crimson Clan'?"
"They were the ones who sparked the Pantheon War—the conflict that led to the Supreme Demons' downfall."
"Pantheon War?"
"Allow me to explain from here."
"Noir."
Noir materialized, using Lord Albert’s doppelgänger as a vessel.
"The Pantheon War, in simple terms, was a conflict that engulfed everything in this world. And at its center were the Supreme Demons."
According to Noir, it was a cataclysmic war that erupted billions of years ago—an era when gods ruled this world. The Pantheon War was a battle where deities fought and slaughtered one another, staking everything this world had.
"The trigger was trivial: a contest to decide who among them was the strongest. But it escalated, consuming all in its wake. There were no victors—only corpses remained."
"Like… Ragnarök?"
"Something akin to it occurred. The survivors of that war were called 'Leaves'—the origin of all life in this world today. Humans, demons, every living being descends from them."
"Whoaaa~. So wooow~."
"Damn it, Rigur’s turned into an idiot. Heal."
"Gyah!"
Lord Albert karate-chopped Rigur-san’s head. The boy clutched his skull, trembling as he crumpled to the ground. Nothing like a good ol’ Showa-era TV-style "healing" chop.
"So, the 'Crimson Clan' started that war?"
"They were the ones who proposed settling which god was strongest."
"Why would they do that?"
"Their motives are unknown. But they were battle-hungry."
Whether their actions were good or evil—or if such concepts even applied—remained unclear.
"I lost my life in that war. This is why I said the Supreme Demons brought ruin upon themselves through their petty squabbles."
"I see."
This aligned with what Noir had mentioned before, when they’d resolved to dismantle the Supreme Demon Cult. So this was how the Supreme Demons fell.
"There’s one more thing—this may concern you, Albert."
"Me? How so?"
"The 'Crimson Clan' reincarnated into the Blaze Clan. Alongside the 'Guardians'—the Bergand Clan—they’re known as the 'Guiding Hands.' And if I’m not mistaken… they’re your friends?"
"…In short, those bastards are trying to reincarnate the 'Crimson Clan' using Scarlet as their vessel."
Lord Albert’s voice dripped with fury as he processed Yuri’s intel on the Supreme Demon Cult’s current plans.
Scarlet—Scarlet Rod Blaze, Albert’s friend and the heir to the Blaze Clan. Their relationship was one of friendly rivalry, forged since childhood. But now, there was a more urgent matter: a crisis.
"We must rescue Lady Scarlet immediately, Lord Albert."
"Obviously. We’re leaving now."
Scarlet had been captured by the Supreme Demon Cult. Even Yuri didn’t know the details, but given the Cult’s zero-ethics approach, the situation reeked of danger. The sooner they acted, the better. To save her, they’d enlist the help of Rir and the other spiritfolk, then head straight for the battlefield.
Meanwhile, in a certain village in the demon realm.
Silence smothered the settlement. No villagers stirred—because none living remained. At the village center, a single man grinned up at the sky, his expression dripping with malice.
"This should suffice as offerings. Even worthless trash like you all can serve a purpose. Be grateful."
He spread his arms wide, as if welcoming something unseen.
"Ah… At last. The time has finally come."
"To 'purify' this world—this is the glorious first step."
A shadow of calamity began to move. The world’s corruption deepened. The cataclysm had begun.
