Chapter 97

A little earlier, before Yuuka played her “trump card.”

Yuri and Glazel were locked in a fierce back-and-forth. Glazel unleashed countless spears of stone, trying to skewer Yuri, who shredded them apart with blades of wind. Yuri fired wind arrows, which Glazel blocked with walls of rock. So far, it was an even match.

"Hey, gorilla. What’s with the half-assed pokes? Don’t tell me you think you’re attacking. Surprised to see you're such a coward."

"Hmph! For a bat like you, this is more than enough!"

The insults flew as their magic clashed. Yuri shrugged and said,

"Big body, tiny balls. What's down there, a cocktail sausage?"

"I’d prefer to call it ‘being cautious.’ Unlike you, I actually have roots."

"Right, because clinging to dusty relics is so noble. You and that beanpole Cloud, worshipping that pile of junk like it’s sacred—you're all insane."

"And you're one to talk? Clinging to an old flame—wasn't she the reason you joined the Demon God Cult in the first place?"

"Hah! I'm just trying to snap that delusional Snow White wannabe out of her fairytale. Don’t get in the way."

"She may be delusional, but she’s still a regional branch leader. One of the strongest we have. You're no match for her."

"Hah! Wait, don't tell me you’ve got a thing for her? Forget it, man. She’s all about looks. No way a gorilla like you is her type."

"Fall for that gloomy wench? Ridiculous. If Lord Cloud hadn’t ordered otherwise, I’d have killed her on the spot. It’s infuriating—her, you, all of you defying Lord Cloud..."

"I'm about to show you Cloud crying like a baby. With Albert and Yuuka on our side, it's possible."

Glazel paused, a thoughtful look crossing his face.

"Yuuka, retainer of 'Thunder Lord' Albert Rondo Belgand... Yes, she is dangerous. She wields lost Sanctuary Magic, and her power and mana are far beyond what an Archdemon should have. Ordinary demons don’t stand a chance. She must be killed now."

"Hah! Like someone like you could take down Yuuka."

"Fool. Right now, Yuuka is up against Iris. She’s Lord Cloud’s hound. Yuuka’s chances of survival are zero."

As if to support Glazel’s claim, the ground began to tremble. A massive magic circle began to glow beneath Iris’s feet. She was preparing a summoning—likely the same type as before. Glazel grinned.

"She's using that summon? Yuuka’s dead."

"...Huh?"

From behind Iris, a monstrous snake emerged. Towering and thrashing wildly, its body was a grotesque mix of venomous colors and eight writhing heads. A creature the likes of which Yuri had never seen.

"Fwahahaha! Shocked, are you?! That’s Iris’s trump card!"

While Glazel was unusually hyped up, Yuri just gave him a deadpan look.

"...Wait, you're serious?"

"What’s wrong? Getting scared, bat-boy?"

Yuri stared at him with mild disbelief, then scoffed through his nose.

"That’s your trump card? You really think that can beat Yuuka?"

"You clearly don’t understand its power. That beast rivals a dragon species!"

Glazel laughed like a fool—but his smirk froze at Yuri’s next words.

"I heard Yuuka took down a Dimensional Dragon. Alone."

"...What?"

"And before that, she apparently killed a Black Dragon too."

"D-Dimensional and Black Dragon!? Don’t spout nonsense! Even the Belgand family couldn’t do that solo!"

"...Do you even have a brain in that skull? Yuuka's Albert’s retainer. That makes her family. The same Belgand family you all wet yourselves over. You forgot that?"

"...! Wait, are you saying... she went Demon God Mode...? Impossible… but if she really did...?"

"Oh, and one more thing."

Yuri, clearly done with Glazel, watched his panic with a cold expression.

"This is already over."

Yuri pointed behind Glazel. The moment Glazel turned to look, over 80% of the giant snake—Yamata-no-Orochi—was obliterated. In just a single strike.

"N-N-No... That’s... impossible..."

Glazel stood in shock, unable to accept that his prized trump card had been so effortlessly destroyed.

"Now then... shall we pick up where we left off?"

Yuri sneered. He’d just been treated to a farcical little show—and he’d decided it was only fair to repay the favor.
