Chapter 84: Beast Tide

The Star Monolith, whose full name is [Cataclysm-class Starbeast Mimetic Obelisk], is a special star energy device developed by the New Federation fifty years ago that can effectively repel Starbeasts below the fourth order.

Its specific operating principles involve many complex disciplines, such as Advanced Star Energy Studies, Advanced Starbeastology, and Applied Theory of Advanced Intelligent Machinery, among others.

But in essence, the Star Monolith consists of only two core components.

First, a mimetic outer shell of a Cataclysm-class Starbeast.

This refers to the intricate crimson patterns currently covering the surfaces of the four obelisks on Embers Island.

These patterns cause third order and lower Starbeasts to mistakenly believe that the obelisks themselves are powerful fourth order Cataclysm-class Starbeasts.

Second, a mimetic brainwave device of a Cataclysm-class Starbeast.

Unlike ordinary third order and lower Starbeasts, fourth order Cataclysm-class Starbeasts already possess a unique presence of their own, as well as special high-frequency brainwaves.

Relying on this unique presence, a Cataclysm-class Starbeast can delineate a territory in the wild that belongs exclusively to itself and warn other Cataclysm-class Starbeasts attempting to enter that domain.

At the same time, through Cataclysm-class–exclusive high-frequency brainwaves, a Cataclysm-class Starbeast can issue clear commands to all third order and lower Starbeasts within a certain range—either summoning them or driving them away.

The New Federation is precisely leveraging these characteristics.

On one hand, it continuously eliminates Cataclysm-class Starbeasts, acquiring new land.

On the other hand, it uses their blood and skeletal remains to forge obelisks, equipping them with mimetic brainwave devices.

These obelisks are disguised as towering “Cataclysm-class Starbeasts” standing within cities, driving away all Starbeasts that attempt to approach.

After all, in the eyes of those Starbeasts, Deep Blue Metropolis is territory belonging to a Cataclysm-class Starbeast.

They would have to be insane to approach it on their own!

Jing Liuli—seated atop the Dreamy Illusionary Pillow—was instantly frightened, her body trembling uncontrollably.

Her Star Core, the Eternal Night Butterfly, was a highly perceptive type of Starbeast, and what it perceived were the dreams of other living beings.

Originally, she could only sense these “dreams” at night, when Starbeasts were asleep.

After issuing brief orders, Tachibana immediately commanded her Terravaran to charge out of the base.

And at that very moment, Tendou and the others finally witnessed the true power of this colossal beast.

Facing the massive numbers of ocean-type Starbeasts, Terravaran no longer held back as it had during the final examination.

Like a heavy tank racing at full speed, it slammed headlong into the flesh wall formed by countless ocean-type Starbeasts.

Relying on its enormous size and its hard, rock-scaled armor, Terravaran, at this moment, didn’t even need Tachibana to intervene.

By itself alone, it completely tore open the northern beast tide’s battle line.

Leaving behind a field of severed limbs and shattered bodies, it advanced with a single, clear objective—charging straight toward the Star Monolith standing tall on the distant beach.

After all, no matter how many shrimp soldiers and crab generals there were, they were nothing but cannon fodder.

Before a true powerhouse, these expendables couldn’t even hope to wear Terravaran down—they weren’t even qualified to serve as its warm-up!

Numerical superiority? Nothing more than an excuse the weak use to huddle together.

“ROAR!”

At the center of the beast tide, Terravaran let out a furious roar.

The earth-yellow rock scales covering its body emitted a special metallic sheen.

Moments later, an invisible gravity field with a radius of over ten meters instantly formed around it.

Relying on this gravity field, wherever Terravaran passed, every ocean-type Starbeast was crushed to the ground, forced to prostrate themselves.

They could only wait helplessly to be stomped into bloody pulp under Terravaran’s feet as it strode past without slowing.

Under such absolute, overwhelming power, the distance between Tachibana and Terravaran and the distant Star Monolith grew ever shorter.
