V3: Chapter 64: Facing Death

"Alright, Miss Liang Lin, you don't need to say anymore."

Laura seemed to have made up her mind, interrupting Liang Lin.

"Come with me, let's go find Octaville. There are some things I've wanted to say for a long time."

Now that she had made up her mind, some things should be done sooner rather than later. Otherwise, Laura was afraid that after a while, she would become timid again and regret her decision.

"Let's go."

Liang Lin and Liang Di didn't ask why. Anyway, once they got to the Magic Tower, Laura would tell Octaville, and they would know why.

Inside the Magic Tower.

"Lord Tower Master, there's something very serious I want to tell you."

Laura sat somewhat restrained in her chair, her expression indeed very solemn.

Octaville sat opposite her.

“Okay. What is it? Just tell me. Is it about the tentacles in the deep sea?”

Octaville, with her sharp eyes, had essentially pinpointed the source immediately.

Laura nodded gravely.

“I told you before that I am the key to sealing that monster in the deep sea. At the time, I wasn't entirely sure, but now I'm pretty certain.”

Upon hearing this, the already tense and serious expressions of the group intensified.

“Hoo~”

Laura took a deep breath, closed her eyes, exhaled, and opened them.

“I'm the key, and I also know how to seal the monster in the deep sea, and how to use this key.”

After saying this, Laura lost all her strength. She slumped into the chair, her face pale. She knew that what followed was likely to be a near-death experience.

“Lord Tower Master, let’s go to the beach now, as soon as possible.”

Her voice was weak and feeble; she was incredibly frail.

Laura was truly afraid that if she delayed, she would regret it, so she wanted to die as soon as possible.

If she really died, then so be it; at least she wouldn’t die with regret, right?

Although, she wasn’t sure if she would regret it when she was about to die.

Octaville didn’t hesitate at all after hearing these words.

“Alright, let’s go now.”

Liang Lin and Liang Di also stood up, but Octaville pressed them back down.

“You two don’t need to come with me. I can manage on my own. If you two come along, it’ll just be a hindrance.”

Before Liang Lin and Liang Di could say anything, Laura interrupted Octaville.

“Liang Lin must come with me.”

Everyone was stunned by these words.

Liang Di's eyes sharpened instantly. She strode forward, stepping in front of Liang Lin, and shielded her behind her, her gaze warily fixed on Laura.

"Laura, what do you mean?"

Laura panicked, beads of sweat forming on her forehead as she frantically waved her hands.

"No, no, I didn't mean to harm Miss Liang Lin. I mean, I need Miss Liang Lin to come down into the sea with me."

Octaville frowned, refusing outright.

"I'll go down with you. Don't bring these two children along."

Hilary pursed her lips, hesitating, then silently lowered her hand, clenching her fist.

She also felt heartache and worry for her lover. Between her sister and her lover, the choice was too difficult. If she could, Hilary wanted to go down into the sea herself.

“I’ll go with you.”

Thinking this, Hilary spoke up.

Octaville looked at her wife again, rubbing her temples with a headache.

“Honey, don’t cause trouble here. I’ll come back and spend time with you after everything is resolved, okay?”

“Fu, do you think this trip will be easy or simple? I know, you probably understand, this is a near-death experience, so don’t offer any comforting words or sweet talk.”

Hilary took a few steps forward, silently standing beside her lover. “Fu, let’s face some things together. After all, you know, if you die, I don’t want to live a wretched life.”

Hilary was also a very extreme woman, much like Liang Di.

Laura looked at everything before her, completely dumbfounded. The current situation was entirely different from what she had envisioned.

"Wait."

Laura silently raised her hand, interrupting the warm conversation.

"Why don't you all listen to me for a moment... Actually, we don't need many people, just one or two, to come down with me."

All eyes turned to Laura again.

With so many people watching her, Laura tensed up again, silently swallowing.

"Gulp."

"What I need is someone without magic, someone who isn't a magician, to come down with me."

After saying this, Laura hurriedly shook her head and waved her hands, explaining, "This really isn't my family's condition. This is what the person in my dream told me, really, really, really! I'm not lying, you have to believe me!"

Her flustered appearance made it seem like someone was about to punch her.

After Laura finished speaking, an eerie silence fell over the room, and all eyes were on Liang Lin.

Liang Lin, however, remained calm, silently straightening her back.

"I don't think there's anything wrong with this. I can definitely handle it."

Her tone was equally calm.

"If going with Laura can completely eliminate that monster in the sea, then even if I sacrifice myself, it doesn't matter. More happy and joyful people will be created in this world, and that will be enough for me."

The next second.

"No!!!"

Liang Di's voice was strange, as if she had screamed herself hoarse. She grabbed Liang Lin's arm, her eyes filled with a pleading, puppy-like pleas.

"Sister Liang Lin, don't go, don't go... It's too dangerous. I'll go, I'll go in your place, okay? I think if we really encounter danger, I can escape..."

After saying this, Liang Di began to sob.

In the past, Liang Lin would have ruthlessly shaken off Liang Di's hand after hearing such words. But now, an indelible bond had formed between them, and Liang Lin simply sighed softly, taking Liang Di's hand in return.

"Liang Di, listen to me, didn't you understand the conditions Laura just mentioned?"
