V3: Chapter 65: Hold Me Tight
How could Liang Di not understand? She heard it perfectly.
“But… I just don’t want to watch you go to your death… Let me go, Sister Liang Lin.”
Liang Di’s tears streamed down her face.
“Liang Di.”
Liang Lin raised her hand and gently placed it on the top of Liang Di’s head.
“Liang Di, some things, I don’t need to say, I think you understand.”
Liang Di understood, of course Liang Di understood everything.
“But…”
With tears streaming down her face, she wanted to say something more.
Liang Lin gently patted her head twice more.
“Liang Di, and you need to understand, if something happens to me, you'll die with me, that's something you're certain of. But what if you die? You won't see me anymore, and you don't know if I'll die with you because of your death. Can you really be at peace with that?”
Liang Lin could only say these things to provoke Liang Di, to reassure her and stop trying to stop her.
Sure enough, after hearing these words, Liang Di hesitated.
Yes, Liang Di was truly terrified. If she died, would Liang Lin really die with her, would they commit suicide together?
Liang Di had always believed that Liang Lin wouldn't die for her. Liang Lin still had her sister and two daughters, all living in this world; she couldn't abandon those things.
Liang Lin… isn't me.
Liang Di had long since accepted reality. Only she herself was the most pathetic, obsessive, and pathological woman, possessing a love that others couldn't understand.
So…
“Sister Liang Lin, I…”
Liang Di couldn't answer.
Liang Lin wasn't saddened by this; instead, she patted the other person's head again with satisfaction.
"That's right. Since you can't trust me, then leave this dangerous mission to me."
After saying this, Liang Lin withdrew her hand, looking firmly at Laura and Octaville.
"Alright, let's go."
It was time to resolve the final issue.
Liang Di followed.
"What if there's anything I can do to help?"
Actually, she was still worried about her sister Liang Lin.
Hilary also followed, remaining silent, only quietly clutching Octaville's sleeve.
Octaville sighed, this time not stopping her.
No one spoke along the way. Octaville drank the potion; they only needed two days to reach the seaside.
"Laura, what did the people in your dream tell you?"
While resting at the inn, Liang Lin and Laura chatted casually. Octaville, Hilary, and Liang Di listened quietly without saying a word.
"The people in my dream told me I'm the key, so I need someone to unlock it. This person can't have magic, can't be a magician. That's a very strict condition. How could an ordinary person not be afraid when facing such a monster? Even a powerful magician would be afraid."
Laura recalled the monster's appearance in her dream and couldn't help but shudder.
"Moreover, it was underwater. How could someone without magic enter such a deep place? Besides, people have a strange fear of the ocean, probably a fear of the unknown. Add to that the indescribable monsters of the seabed, and with that double fear, would anyone really be willing to be the one to lock it?"
"Hmm."
Liang Lin nodded gently.
“Since I’ve made my decision, no one can change it. I will be the one who locks it in.”
“Liang Lin…”
Hilary couldn’t help but speak up, “Actually, you should know that I don’t have much magic power either, only a tiny bit…”
“No, Sister.”
Liang Lin interrupted her, raising her hand.
“Sister, you don’t need to say that. Laura’s words are very clear; she wants someone completely devoid of magic power, like me, who has absolutely no magic power.”
Liang Lin sighed.
“Besides, you are my sister. I’ve grown up; I’m not the little follower who used to trail behind you anymore. I can protect you now; I can’t let you be in danger.”
“Sister, this is something I must do.”
Liang Lin smiled slightly.
“I used to be so frustrated because I had absolutely no magic. Even a tiny bit of magic would have allowed me to learn some simple spells. But now, I realize it was all preordained. Before, I didn't believe in gods, but now I think… this really might be destiny.”
“It's precisely because I have no magic that I have this mission, to save thousands upon thousands of people. What an honor this is for me.”
Liang Lin silently clenched her fists and stood up from her chair.
“Don't try to persuade me anymore. A hundred times, a thousand times, it's useless. My answer remains firm: I'm going. I'm going to be the one to lock the gate.”
The air froze once more.
After a long silence.
Octaville sighed.
“Liang Lin, I know. Your sister knows too. We were just worried about you. Actually, we all know you're the most suitable candidate.”
Liang Lin was pleased by these words. A happy smile finally appeared on her face, and she sat back down in her chair.
"Then it's settled. Don't try to persuade me anymore."
Night.
Liang Di hugged Liang Lin tightly around the waist.
"Liang Di..."
Liang Lin thought the other woman was there to persuade her again. She sighed softly, about to say something.
"Sister Liang Lin, I'm not here to persuade you. You don't need to sigh. I don't want to hear sighs. I want you to be happy and joyful when you're by my side."
Liang Di hugged her tighter.
"I just want to hold you more. I love the warmth of your skin against mine. I also love the feeling of being suffocated when you hug me tightly, it's like... happiness fills my whole body."
Hearing this, Liang Lin's breath hitched. Then, she sighed again, a helpless yet doting smile on her face. She raised her hand and encircled Liang Di's body.
"Hmm, I think I understand what you're saying."
Liang Lin hugged her tighter.
"Is this tight enough? Or do you want it tighter?"
Liang Di felt it wasn't enough at all; it didn't feel like it was ingrained in her bones. She... wanted to be forever intertwined with her Sister Liang Lin.
"Not enough, Sister Liang Lin."
Liang Di closed her eyes, her arms tightening further.
"Completely not enough."
