V3: Chapter 82: Imminent Sealing

Meanwhile, Liang Lin and Laura swam rapidly deeper into the palace.

“Miss Liang Lin, are we really going to just abandon the Tower Master like this? Can she really manage alone?”

As she spoke, Laura kept looking back worriedly, truly concerned for Octaville’s safety.

However, Liang Lin didn’t turn her head, holding Laura’s hand and swimming quickly into the depths.

“This matter isn’t our concern right now. Our most important thing is to get to where we’re supposed to be and complete our task.”

“Octaville and I anticipated this situation long ago. Octaville insisted on coming with us to help resolve this matter.”

Liang Lin’s eyes were resolute as she increased her swimming speed.

“Didn’t you tell us back then? Only someone like me, without magic, could help you seal that monster. We couldn’t bring Octaville with us, because it would only put her in the danger. So, Octaville never intended to stay with us until the end. She was just here to clean up our mess and eliminate all the dangers along the way.”

After saying this, Liang Lin fell silent for a long time before adding, “What she’s doing now is her mission.”

Upon hearing this, Laura felt relieved and swam deeper into the palace with Liang Lin.

Octaville’s side.

Just as Octaville felt helpless, she suddenly remembered an ancient spell she had once learned—Abyss Seal.

This spell could seal certain creatures from the abyss.

She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and began chanting the incantation for the Abyss Seal.

As the incantation began, the air around her grew heavy, and a powerful magical force surged within her. As the incantation finished, Octaville's eyes snapped open, a dazzling blue light shooting from her hand towards the reefs.

The blue light transformed into a massive magical seal in the air, rapidly expanding to engulf the entire reef. With the seal complete, the reefs began to howl mournfully, struggling to break free, but ultimately, they were sealed away in the abyss.

As the reefs and the evil forces were sealed, the surrounding sea gradually calmed. Octaville looked at the scene before her, but couldn't feel happy. She turned back, gazing into the palace, pondered for a moment, and finally decided to follow.

She didn't know if the two little ones could handle the other troubles, nor whether this palace was the end of the story.

Octaville was truly worried about Liang Lin and Laura.

She thought that when they got close to where the monster was sealed, Laura would sense it, and then she could swim a little further away. Now, she couldn't just abandon these two little ones. She had to protect them and the world until her last breath.

Liang Lin and Laura swam incredibly fast, without looking back, so they didn't see Octaville following closely behind them.

"Laura, do you know the way? Did the person in your dream tell you about this palace? Which way should we go?"

Laura and Liang Lin seemed to be standing in the center of the palace.

Liang Lin looked lost, because the palace was enormous, and their current location was somewhat like a maze. There were hundreds of holes in the walls, and she didn't know which one led to where they were going.

She looked at Laura beside her.

But Laura's eyes also seemed confused.

"Ah?"

Liang Lin exclaimed, a bad feeling creeping into her heart.

"Laura, Laura, say something! Why do you look so blank?"

Liang Lin was getting anxious; she called out her name. But Laura just stared blankly, her mouth slightly open, her eyes vacant as she looked at everything before her, like a soulless rag doll, uttering not a word.

Seeing Laura's abnormal state, Liang Lin was genuinely anxious, appearing somewhat helpless.

Finally, she turned around and shook Laura's shoulders forcefully twice, as if using a bruteforce to wake her.

"Laura, you don't know the way either, do you? These scenes in your dream weren't never there, were they? Didn't the person in your dream ever tell you about this palace?"

Liang Lin was somewhat agitated. She was never one to control her temper, and now, in her anxiety, she almost raised her hand and slapped Laura a few times.

Fortunately, just as Liang Lin raised her hand, Octaville caught up again. Seeing Liang Lin's face contorted with malice due to her anxiety, Octaville, unaware of what was happening, swam quickly and grabbed her wrist.

"Liang Lin! What's wrong with you?! Have you been bewitched by a monster?!"

Octaville's voice was filled with intense tension. She raised her hand, intending to slap Liang Lin to snap her out of her daze. She thought Liang Lin was trapped in an illusion and was about to kill Laura.

Liang Lin easily dodged the slap.

She didn't have time to explain, nor to reprimand Octaville's impulsiveness. She pointed at Laura in front of her.

“Octaville, look at her! What’s wrong with her? Her eyes are completely lifeless. It’s like… like… like she’s trapped in a hallucination!”

Octaville realized then that Liang Lin wasn’t trapped in a hallucination; it was Laura who was.

She turned to look at Laura.

Laura’s eyes were becoming increasingly vacant. If her eyes had been wide open a moment ago, they were now narrowed to slits. And they seemed to be narrowing more and more, until her eyelids were about to stick together.

Octaville frowned; she found something strange.

“But people truly trapped in hallucinations have wide-open eyes; they never close their eyes or squint. Laura’s state doesn’t seem like she’s trapped in a hallucination.”

“Then what’s wrong with her? I called her, but she didn’t respond. If she’s not trapped in a hallucination, then… how do you explain this?”

Liang Lin was now completely at her wits’ end.

Octaville was too.

The two were anxious, but helpless.

Laura's eyes finally closed, completely still, as if she had fallen asleep, and her body went limp.

Octaville and Liang Lin held her in their arms, helpless, they could only keep calling Laura's name.
